Official Platform for Steven Fisher For President

EDUCATION:
As a former educator there are few issues as important to Senate Majority Leader Fisher as Education. The Majority Leader believes that we need to continue to revamp and overhaul our nation's educational system. President Obama's Race to the Top was a good first step, it was a strong first step, but more must and can be done. The school year needs to be extended and the school day research has shown would be better if it was 9-5 instead of the current 8-3. Majority Leader Fisher also believes in working with Governors and state leaders in Education to come up with binding national standards that all states can achieve. Majority Leader Fisher is dedicated to raising test scores in America by the end of his first term as President. Majority Leader Fisher also believes that more needs to be done to help families allay the cost of higher education. College should not be solely the domain of the super wealth who can afford it. The Majority Leader will seek a new tax credit to help families pay for college for their children Majority Leader Fisher is also dedicated to creating an Academy of Education designed to train the best teachers in America so that they can serve the United States and their fellow citizens in the areas that most need excellent teachers.

THE ECONOMY:
Majority Leader Fisher believes that the stimulus was a good idea that helped save the United States economy from collapsing. However, more must and can be done. Majority Leader Fisher believes in extending tax credits to small businesses that hire new employees for the next two years. He also believes in cutting the business tax rate in order for companies to start hiring again. Majority Leader Fisher believes that it's time we started making things here in America again and supports a new effort to revitalize and revamp America's industrial prowess. Majority Leader Fisher also believes that the national minimum wage should be raised and will work to put it over $10 by the end of his first term.

SOCIAL SECURITY:
Majority Leader Fisher believes that Social Security is a promise made by the federal government to her citizens and that is a sacred promise. However, something must be done to preserve the long term viability of Social Security. Majority Leader Fisher believes that lifting the cap on the $100,000 in income will help keep Social Security solvent as well as a voluntary opt out program for those Americans who wish to not receive Social Security.

IMMIGRATION:
Majority Leader Fisher is a proud sponsor of the DREAM Act which would provide a pathway to citizenship for children of illegal immigrants who simply wish to receive an education or serve in our nation's armed forces. Majority Leader Fisher does not believe in punishing children for the sins of their parents. As President Steven Fisher will seek higher punishments for corporations and businesses the knowingly use illegal labor here in the United States and prosecute them to the full extent of the law. He will also work with Congressional leaders to overhaul to immigration system here in America.

CRIME/GUNS:
Majority Leader Fisher believes in the Death Penalty and will protect its right to be used. He will seek higher punishments for sexual predators and child molesters. Majority Leader Fisher will also shift from an incarceration to a rehabilitation model for drug offenders. Drug use is a disease and should be treated as such. This will save the nations billions and reduce our overall prison population. Senate Majority Leader Fisher believes strongly in the 2nd Amendment and will protect it as President.

WOMEN'S ISSUES:
As President Steven Fisher will seek to end the pay disparity between men and women. Senate Majority Leader Fisher also believes strongly in a woman's right to choose and will protect that right as President.

ENERGY:
It's high time that America ends her addiction to foreign oil. It only makes America weaker and is a huge national security risk. As President Steven Fisher will jumpstart a new industrial race for clean renewable energy sources and will seek that by 2020 25% of America's energy will be from clean, renewable sources. This will help create millions of jobs in America and make us safer.

FOREIGN AFFAIRS:
Senate Majority Leader Fisher believes that America is the greatest nation on Earth and will continue to lead America on her path to greatness. Senate Majority Leader believes in working with our allies to make the world safer, more literate and a better place to live. The Majority Leader does not believe in unilateral actions by one nation against another unless one of the states is in dire danger. Steven Fisher will seek to strengthen U.S. relations with our allies and those who are still skeptical about the United States. He also believes strongly in our membership of organizations such as NATO, the U.N. and other supranational organizations.

TERRORISM:
Right now it's still far too easy for terrorists to sneak across our borders with weapons of mass destruction. As President Steven Fisher will seek an overhaul of our security measures and implement new measures in our ports and along our borders to keep our citizens safe in America. Abroad Steven Fisher will work with our allies to seek out and destroy those who represent a threat to American to the fullest of his ability. The safety of the American people is a paramount concern.

TAXES:
As President Steven Fisher will never raise taxes on middle and lower class Americans unless it becomes direly necessary. However, he will allow the tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans to expire when it comes up.

BUDGET:
President Fisher will seek by his second budget to only submit balanced budgets or even surplus budgets in order to pay down the national debt. Steven Fisher believes that our debt is the biggest risk to America right now and something must and can be done about it.

Target: Liberal-Conservative Democrats, Moderate Republicans, Independents
Topic: Announcement

"Council Bluffs it's nice to be home. And today I have a special announcement. Today I am declaring the I will be seeking the Democratic nomination for President of the United States of America. It's going to be a long journey. And there are going to be ups and downs and maybe even a few twists and turns that we don't expect. But my friends if we all put our time and our energy into this we can change the world.

Because you see my friends we need to change the world. While President Obama accomplished great things and I truly wish he were here to run his work is not done. Our work is not done. Too many of our children are failing and dropping out. Too much of our energy come from countries that hate us. Too few Americans have jobs. Those and other things are major concerns here in American. In recent years we've seen our relationship with other nations dim while other would seek to usurp our spot on the world stage.

But my friends this is not the time to lament and wail. Now is not the time to look down and give up. Now is the time to roll up our sleeves and do what Americans do best, which is work harder, longer, faster, and better than anyone else in the world. You see my friends I do not view anything as a problem for America. There are simply challenges that we must meet and overcome. And as President I can assure you we will meet and surpass any challenge laid before us.

As President I'm dedicated to making our schools work better while encouraging more cooperation between local government and national government to ensure that our children are learning and graduating. As President I am dedicated to immigration reform so that all who want can come here legally and so that American interests are protected. I will work tirelessly to raise America's profile in the world and ensure that we are still the premier power in the world. I am dedicated to making sure that every American who wants one can get a job. As President I will help bring jobs back to America by investing in green energy and I promise you that by 2020 25% of our energy will be from green sources. And to all those who would seek to harm Americans either here or abroad I promise you this. There is nowhere you can hide, nowhere you can run, nowhere you will be safe. If you seek to spill American blood I assure you I will spill yours, because nothing is more important to me than protecting the lives of the American people.

So my friends if you want to meet these challenges, if you want to exceed these challenges. If you believe that America's brighter days are still ahead and not behind than I am asking for your help. Because I cannot accomplish this all on my own. But if we work together, nothing can stop us. Thank you, God bless you, and God bless the United States of America."

Event #: 2
Event Type: Speech
Location: Ames, IA
Target: Liberal-Conservative Democrats, Farmers, Independents
Topic: Agriculture

"Hello Ames good to see you all out here today on this fine day of August. My name is Steven Fisher and I am the current Senate Majority Leader and a candidate for President of these United States of America. I'm here to talk to you all today about my plans as President of America.

Agriculture is a way of life for millions of Americans. And for too long it's been too hard for middle class families to farm and make ends meet without having to get another job or two. With giant corporate farms eating up the small competitors we're very likely looking at an end to family farming in the next 20-25 years. My friends that is unacceptable and something must be done about it. As President I plan on doing something about it.

The first thing I plan to do to help family farms is raise the minimum on the inheritance tax to $5 million. For many families while not wealthy their family farms are worth quite a bit and after their parents pass away that farm is listed in their wealth. And because of that many families are having to sell their family farms in order to pay the inheritance tax. And my friends that just isn't right. I will change the tax in order to protect family farms.

The second thing I want to do is to end subsidies to corporate farms to ensure that they go only to family farms. There is no reason large corporate farms should get a government handout when family farms are struggling to hit the black. Not only will this help family farmers, but it will also save the U.S. government millions in wasted revenue.

As President I will also invest in our rural communities. By 2020 I want every town in the United States to have access to high speed broadband access. And we can do this for 20 million over a decade. It's a cheap, feasible job creating plan and I assure you I will make it happen as President.

So my friends if you believe in investing in our family farms. If you believe in creating 21st century jobs in rural America. If you believe in making America great again then I'm asking for your support. Because together we can achieve great things. Thank you, God bless you, and God bless the United States of America."

Location: Des Moines
Target: Senator Fisher will walk for 4 hours in a poor neighborhood in inner city Des Moines hitting as many houses as possible.
Topic: Jobs

"Hello Sir/Ma'am,

My name is Steven Fisher and I'm running for President of the United States of America. The reason I'm running for President is because for too long leaders in D.C. have expected hard working Americans such as you to make ends meet with a sub par wage. Leaders in D.C. have refused time and again to raise the minimum wage to something on which the average people can live on. Well I for one got sick and tired of it. That's why I sponsored a bill to raise the minimum wage to $9.25. It's time that we gave the American people the economic tools to achieve the American dream instead of just empty talk and platitudes. It's time that we gave every American an equal chance at the American Dream. Do you have any questions for me personally or about my campaign? (Answer any questions). Well thank you for your thoughtful questions. I really enjoy getting out and talking with constituents such as you. And I hope you support me when the Iowa Caucuses come around in January. Thank you and God bless."

Event #: 4
Event Type: Speech
Location: Keene, New Hampshire
Target: Teachers, Principal, Democratic Activists, Education Interested Folks
Topic:Education

"Keene how you all doing tonight? Good, great. My name is Steven Fisher and I'm running for President of the United States of America and I need your help. You see Keene America is facing a growing number of challenges that threaten us as a nation and our standing in the world. They are myriad and they are intense. But let me tell you something Keene I'm going to put my money on the American people because whenever we've been faced with a problem we have always risen to the occasion and America it's time to rise again.

Our schools are crumbling. Everyone here knows it. You all have children, grandchildren or work in a school. You know of the 1950's building design which wasn't meant to last to 1981 much less 2011. You know about the texts books that still reference newly elected President Clinton. You know about the teachers who are more interested in simply collecting a pay check than they are with teaching our children. You know that our school budgets are strapped and are cutting programs right and left. You know that this is seemingly the final call for public education here in America. Well my fellow Americans it is and we need to start doing something about it now and I have a plan.

On day one as President I will meet with leaders in education from around the country to discuss and create a bipartisan Board of Education. This committee will be responsible for making a series of binding recommendations within a year needed to save our schools. Whatever recommendations this committee makes I will take to Congress and have made into law. Because you see New Hampshire education is an issue bigger than party and we need all hands on deck for this growing crisis.

The second thing I will do is call a meeting of all the state education secretaries to come up with a nationwide series of guidelines and benchmarks. Education in Iowa is not different enough from education in New York or New Hampshire or Utah to require 50 different sets of educational benchmarks. It's time we started treating education as a national issue with national implications rather than a local issue.

The third thing I will do is create a National Academy of Teachers. Based on the United States military academies this school will train the brightest young men and women our country has to offer in the art of education. They will have an extensive and effective 4 year education and then they will be sent out to the worst schools in the nation in order to help raise test scores and bring these schools back into the fold.

The fourth thing I will do is pass a stimulus bill for our schools. No child should be taught with books older than they are or in buildings that are falling down around them. And no child should not be able to enjoy art or music they are just as important to learning as math or science. And if local communities cannot pay for it the federal government will. Because every child deserves a world class education.

With these four steps we can turn around education in America. We can leap ahead in test scores instead of fall further behind. It's time to give every American child the world class education they deserve. But Keene I need your help. I need you to stand with me. Because if you stand with me there's nothing we cannot do. Together we can change the world. Thank you, God bless you, and God bless the United States of America."
