Hi! I’m Senator Brian Murphy, and I’m running for the Democratic nomination for president of the United States. I’m up here in Concord because I can’t get to the White House without your help, and your support. I know that I’m not very well known up here in New England, so let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I’m a small business owner. For over 30 years, I’ve owned a real estate development firm in Baton Rouge. Since its start in 1979, that business has grown into one of the largest development firms in Southeast Louisiana. Because of my success in the business world, I was asked to run for the Louisiana State Senate at the age of 31. I served for 7 years as a state senator, and six years as a member of Congress. In 1996, I was elected to the United States Senate. Since then, I have been a voice for moderate Blue Dog Democrats.

As president, I will offer the same kind of pragmatic, common sense leadership that we saw from President Bill Clinton. I will fight to keep taxes low for low and middle-class voters, yet ensure that the rich pay their fair share. I will work with our allies abroad and with the UN to keep Al Qaeda in check, and bring Ossama bin Laden to justice once and for all. I will stand up for our soldiers on and off the battlefield by ensuring out troops have the best equipment that we can give them, and that they’re well-compensated for the sacrifices that they make. Finally, I will fight tooth and nail any efforts to repeal Obamacare, and will push for the public option necessary to ensure that not one American is denied affordable healthcare.

I am ready to build on the progress made by President Barack Obama, and keep America moving forward. Please consider giving me your support when primary season rolls around, and remember to tell your friends about me.

Hello, Nashua! It’s great to be here in your lovely city. I’ve been all over New Hampshire these past few weeks. I’ve been making my case to the folks up here in the Granite State. One of the great things about this campaign so far is the opportunity to meet hundreds of fine folks just like you. Another great thing about this campaign is the fact that people seem to be warming up to my message. More and more people are excited about my plan to keep our country moving forward in the right direction. It looks like the people of Iowa and New Hampshire aren’t the only ones paying attention. I’m happy to say that I have earned the endorsements of many of my Senate Democratic colleagues. I can feel this campaign moving in the right direction. I can feel it gaining momentum. With your help, and your support, we can go all the way to the White House!

I probably don’t have to tell any of you that New Hampshire is one of the brightest states in the Union. I’m not talking about bright in terms of sunlight, I’m talking about bright in terms of education. Thirty-four percent of adults in New Hampshire between the ages of 25 and 64 have bachelor’s degrees. Twelve percent of New Hampshire adults between the same ages have a graduate degree or other professional degree. Up the road in Hanover is Dartmouth College. Though Dartmouth may be the smallest of America’s Ivy League schools, it easily rivals Harvard and Yale in terms of prestige.

Unfortunately, not every American child is afforded the same opportunities that so many people here in New Hampshire have had. Too many children are trapped in failing schools. Too many extraordinary students are not allowed to meet their full potential because they cannot afford college. It is absolutely tragic that in the greatest nation on earth, there are still children who are unable to reach their dreams; realize their full potential.

As president, I will work to remake America’s education system so that every child is allowed to reach his full potential. It starts by ensuring that there is a great teacher in every classroom. I will do that by granting tax incentives for top achievers who wish to make teaching their profession. By doing this, we can ensure that the best, brightest, and most dedicated individuals are in our classrooms. I will work to increase pay for teachers who vow to spend 5 years working in schools classified as “high risk.” We can make failing schools work again, and if I’m elected we will!

Getting a great elementary and secondary education means nothing if we cannot help our children earn a college degree. In today’s economy, if you want to be competitive in the job market, you have to have a decent college education. As president, I will work to increase the number of Pell Grants and Stafford Loans so that any American student who wants to go to college is able to. Not one single American student should be prevented from reaching their full potential.

For far too long, we’ve needed to refocus our energies on education. Sadly, our politicians have let our public schools deteriorate. It’s time to put a stop to it. Our children deserve the BEST education that we can offer them. They deserve the best and brightest teachers in their classrooms. Let’s make the changes that need to be made to reform education in the United States. Our children deserve no less.

How are you? I’m Senator Brian Murphy from Louisiana. I’m here in Sioux City, because I’m a Democratic candidate for president of the United States. I can’t get to the White House, or even win the nomination, without your help. So, I want to take a few minutes and tell you a little about myself.

For over 30 years, I’ve been a small business owner. I started a real estate development company in 1979. Over the last three decades, my business has expanded to become one of the largest development firms in Southeast Louisiana.
I mention my business background because we need someone who knows how our economy works if we hope to keep that economy moving forward. I know what small businesses and small business owners need to succeed, even in tough economic times. I understand how to create jobs, and what’s needed to do so because I’ve done it.

If I’m elected president, I will expand the Small Business Administration, and work to give tax incentives to small business owners. I will also work to allow more grants for entrepreneurs with great ideas who wish to start small businesses. Finally, I want to create more green jobs, and provide job training for misplaced workers so that they can move on to better paying, high tech jobs.

We can improve on the great work President Obama did during his two years in office. Please, consider giving me your support during the caucus. If you stand with me, I promise to stand up for folks like you once I'm in the White House.
