Campaign Speech 1: Announcement - Located in Washington, DC - Targets: All Voters![]() Members of the Press Corps were convened to carry the event live. The podium with the seal of the President stood front and center with an arch of red, white, and blue balloons forming an arch around the podium. The first family stood in the background along with White House Senior Staff, members of the cabinet, and girl and boy scouts from the President' hometown of Independence, Missouri and their parents. The Marching Band from Independence High School began playing "Hail to the Chief" as the President approached the podium from the arrival. She shook hands and stood behind the podium. Before she began her speech there was a 21-gun salute, followed by silence. "Thank you. My Fellow Americans: I cannot describe the last month or so in this office, the honor it has been and the work I've accomplished; the work I have yet to accomplish. As I stand behind this podium I reflect on my two years as Vice President and the last month as Commander in Chief. Today I ask the people to look at what has happened to a nation. We have lost a great man and a powerful leader. Someone who accomplished a great deal for this country. He was fit. He was healthy and above all he was our nation's President. The agenda and legacy of President Barack Hussein Obama cannot and will not be forgotten. Today I respect that. Today I pledge to the American people that President Obama will always be respected. Today I pledge to the people that all Presidents in our history shall be respected. The United States of America must be under the leadership of a person ready to respect the agenda of the men who have followed in her footsteps. I am prepared for this. I believe that I can continue to respect the legacies of former Presidents as well as create my own agenda. I am not President Obama - I am my own person. I stood up to the methods used to handle Obama Care. I objected in the Cabinet Room when it came to critical issues and I called the President for hours, talking about the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The day he died I had talked to the President about North Korea. Our country has to move forward and we must have a President who is competent for the job. I am. Over the last month I've learned the ins and outs of the Presidency and I am proud to report to the American people that significant progress has been made. Let no one doubt that I will continue to fight for this nation for the next two years. However, two years is not enough - we all know this. Dwight Eisenhower once told his wife that a President could not hope to accomplish all he wished without two terms, I see the truth in this now. My Fellow Americans: I am running for President of the United States of America. And I am going to win. I'm going to fight for comprehensive health care reform and I'll fight for the Equal Rights Amendment. Our nation must keep in this direction if we want the country to move in the right direction. The United States of America is the land of the free and the home of the brave and as your President I will continue to fight to uphold that. We need to keep moving forward and I am the candidate who'll take us there, without the partisan bickering. I am an Independent. While other candidates pledge to work with the other party - I promise to work with both parties. While other candidates claim they're the ones who offer bipartisanship, look at the candidates and see which one has no party. Which candidate is prepared to be President? Which candidate is ready to take on North Korea? Which candidate is ready to confront Egypt and strengthen our alliance? I am. And I'm the only candidate in this race who is. My opponents are great men, but I'm the President, I'm the Commander in Chief, and I'm sure as heck ready for another four years! Thank you all and God Bless America!"
