Pick a random word. This can be done by flipping through a dictionary or other book and selecting a random word from the page or you might ask someone else in the room to say the first word that comes to their head. Then write the word down and circle it. Without thinking, write down the first word that comes to your mind when you see, hear, or read the first word. Circle that and connect the two with a line. Continue doing this until you have a web of different words associated with each other. You may spark some creative idea or find new insights or ways of looking at language that you hadn't previously. |
