Apparently, all of IPBFree disappeared forever, so I've re-started Post-Modern 16-Type here. Hope it works out well! I'll be posting a lot of material from the previous board in the near future, and possibly attempting to make things presentable, visually.

For the time being at least, you can find many posts from the previous site with Google. Type "site:jfmb.ipbfree.com" in (no quotes), then a space and whatever words you're looking for. You'll have to click on "Cached" at the bottom right of each entry.

I hope everyone likes the modifications to the appearance. (Set your theme to "Akoka".) If it goes haywire on your browser, let me know, I'll see what I can do.

It looks very nice!

I started a topic purely about evolutionary biology in "The Mind, Otherwise," and decided to change that category's name to "Humanity, Otherwise," for purposes of accuracy.

There's apparently a problem with the skin; some graphics aren't loading, which makes the main page look a bit odd. I'm hoping it's temporary. If it's not, I'll do something about it.

+Back to normal for now.

After a great deal of pained contemplation, I'm considering changing the name of the board to "Post-Modern Everybody's Pretty Much The Same, If You Really Think About it." Just kidding.

I have changed my username (And historical name) to Dr. Edmond Zedo. Above all, because while I consider it almost inevitable that I will eventually be assigned the title of "Doctor" by some external object, I don't believe any such object has more authority than I to assign such a title. Therefore, to assign it to myself first ensures that the title contains as much validity as it should, and ensures that ten generations from now, when those who assign such titles today may not be respected in the least (but those who take my example will be), "Doctor" won't be inordinately stripped from me due to a clerical error.

I challenge anyone who disagrees with this decision to a debate on physics, anthropology, psychology, biology, economics, philosophy, or law, at your choosing. For papers, of course.

If "Doctor" is supposedly required to be bestowed by those called "Doctor," who inaugurated the first one? I propose it was no better a situation than this.

+I changed it back to Edmond Zedo because it flows better, and I consider the prefix less meaningful than I did before. I demoted Captain Tan back to Lieutenant Tan for disobeying a superior officer, failing to salute, unbecoming hygiene, and "accidental" solicitation of black-market prostitutes, bringing shame to the organization.

That makes sense, but Dr is a pre-surname! A replacement for Mr or Mrs or something. You may be a doctor, but your board name before wasn't MR. Edmond Zedo! You just threw it in there!

I think it has a nice ring to it!

Oh, BY THE WAY, in case anyone missed it, I stopped "publication" of what I consider especially sound and useful theory some weeks ago, due to the near certainty that my work is being used without citation (certainly without recognition or payment). This is a hardline stance which will change once the issue is rectified, if it is while I'm on Earth.

I've banned member abrazos permanently because of her severe hysteria. The full evidence is not publicly available, but you don't have to take my word for it. You just have to deal.

Word on the street is that there was a software upgrade, and the most notable feature change is that multiquote is available. Desire it. Use it. Love it. (The little checkbox next to "Quote.")

I'm aware that for the past day or so, loading of pages on the site doesn't work about half the time. There's nothing I can do about it except hope it improves, and say that it seems to be like a flip of a coin, rather than a time-based phenomenon: Reloading seems to eventually cause proper loading.

I think its something other than a flip of a coin, though I can't say what. I can come here, it doesn't work. Refresh, it does. Refresh 100 more times and it works every time. Then go to another site and come back and it doesn't work.

Or I think if you stay on a page for to long, then it wont work.

There's no such thing as staying on a page at Post-Modern 16-Type for too long, Tan, but I get the idea.

I know.

By the way, I recommend using "Back" as opposed to "Reload" when posting goes wrong, to hopefully preserve the text of the post.
