Helo patted Telon and told the hawkstrider to stay put when he had reached the center of town, in a spot mostly dry of all the slime and muck. First, he silently stepped into the second-largest building. It was largely empty, strangely devoid of any sort of furniture - he could see scrapes in the floor where it was removed, likely in a hurry. What was strange was there was still a fire - recently built - in the fireplace. This must has been an inn, as he then found a bar in the back of the room, and there were stairs leading upward. He went behind the bar and into the back room where dried blood still clung to the cutting board. Definitely an inn, then, and he would likely find nothing here. Back outside he decided to ignore the other buildings - most were completely destroyed, others had dark shapes darting just inside the doorways, and Helo had no intention of tangling with anything he might find in a plagued town - and instead he headed to the border of the town and began to examine the ground. The grass, what bits of it weren't covered in clinging gunk, was trampled flat in several places. Helo found a clean area, and dropped flat to the ground on his stomach. It was time to sort through the myriad of footprints in the ground. Sometime later, and quite a bit north of Southshore, Helo whistled loudly and waited a few moments for Telon to scurry up to him. He climbed back into the saddle and turned the bird east. From what he had determined, he had a fairly good idea of where at least some of the humans of Southshore had gone. |

Reyvan smiled slightly, and kicked her horse, Arcaedion, into a run. Before long she had caught up with Zadora, and they were running neck and neck. |

When she skidded to the stop beside the riverbank, Zadora laughed as quietly as she could, "A tie. Interesting." Leaning down, she patted Zaa's neck, smiling as he looked up at her, "Look at you, you're brilliant, you know?" He was so very important to her. Looking around, she took note of everything surrounding them, her voice quiet as she spoke to Rey, "Shall we see what we can find until Helothannin comes back?" |

"I doubt there will be much to find," Reyvan said as she dismounted, "And I'm no expert tracker. But it couldnt hurt to look around." She began scanning the ground for foot prints. |

Shrugging a little, Dora ran her hand over the plate armor covering most of her body, "I'm not much of one with nature either." Dismounting from Zaa, she let the horse wander a little as she surveyed the land, "The least we can do is try." |

Reyvan nodded, still scanning the ground for clues. |

Honestly, the entire set of plate armor she wore was not designed to allow for much range of motion in terms of bending down to check out potential tracks. She was in good shape, but half an hour into it she couldn't help the sweat pooling around her hairline - she certainly hoped Helo found what he was looking for, because this was a wild goose chase for her. |

Reyvan saw that Zadora was sweating. "Maybe we should take a break for awhile," she suggested, "I'm not seeing anything, and you're looking tired. How you can even function in all that metal is beyond me." |

She laughed a little, mostly directed at herself, "It's not designed for the work of a tracker - I'm fine if I stay on my feet for the most part." Looking around, she nodded a bit before speaking, "Let's cross the river, wait for Helothannin." |

Helo came into view of the river and, when he first saw that the two females were not where he'd thought they'd be, he experienced a brief moment of worry. And, then, he saw them across the river and blew out a quiet sigh that was part relief and part amusement at himself over how he had almost immediately jumped to an incorrect conclusion out of concern. "Up and over, Telon...if you can," he murmured to his mount, teasing the hawkstrider. In return he got a grumpy squawk, followed by the bird speeding up without needing his master's prodding until he was running full out; when he reached the bank of the river he leaped and landed on the far side, then twisted his head around to look at Helo with a look that clearly "and you doubted me". Helo patted the hawkstrider's side and chuckled - it was always easy to tease the pride-fueled beast. Edited by Helothannin, Dec 6 2010, 10:33 PM.
