Helo chuckled. "I too am able to scout. However, let us wait until we see how wide the road truly is - I'm not expecting it to be narrow, but if it isn't wide enough for two to ride side by side then it may be best to let Zadora take lead. If the road is indeed rather narrow, I doubt there'd be many places to conceal yourself for scouting, anyhow." He guided Telon after Zadora, and Noamuth padded along behind obediently. |

Nudging Zaa out in front of Rey and her horse, Dora couldn't help the sudden sense of over-protectiveness that settled around her when the other woman suggested going first, "You will do no such thing. We've already seen that they can conceal themselves too, and my plate will stand up far better to arrows, slings, and swords than your leather." Turning back to look at the other woman, there was genuine concern in her eyes, though she didn't know it herself, "I will not have you get hurt on my watch." There was a pause then, and just soon enough to not be considered an afterthought she added, "Any of you." |

"Eh, just worry about the leather-clad one, and the flammable one. I hold up just as well as you." He patted at his chest, the metal of his breastplate making a dull "thunk" in response. He grinned. His ears seemed to have perked forward, a little straighter than they had been before - eyes cautiously beginning to survey the land around them as they trotted down the cobbled path. He allowed the women to continue their discussion, now leaving his say out of it. Sebastian had concerned himself more with the well-being of his new group mates, and with their head busy convincing the Forsaken that her position was better justified - it left a sense of vulnerability he had to quickly cover. |

Helo and Zadora were right, of course- given the circumstances, Dora was obviously the best one to lead, and Rey felt vaguely embarassed for suggesting otherwise. But the thought of the paladin leading the way into such dangerous territory made her uneasy, to say the least. She wasnt sure why- Dora had proven time and again that she could take care of herself in battle. All she knew was that when the paladin had moved out ahead, Reyvan had felt her stomach lurch. What if the worst happened? She couldnt stand to even imagine such a thing. Rey was racking her brains for some way to justify going first herself, when Zadora turned and looked at her. There was such concern in the paladin's deep blue eyes that Reyvan was caught completely off guard. Concern? For her? But why? For a moment the Forsaken felt the stirrings of hope somewhere deep in her chest. No. Reyvan looked away sharply. No, don't go there. Don't be an idiot Rey. Of course Dora was concerned- concerned about the group, concerned about the mission. Reyvan was distracting them all from potential threats, and thus endangering them and all they were working for. Dora probably didnt even like her as a friend, and to think for a moment that the beautiful paladin could like her- a stupid, ugly Forsaken- as anything more, was beyond ludicrous. "Fine," Rey muttered, letting Arcaedion fall in step behind Zadora, eyes averted, "You go first." Just don't get killed, she pleaded silently. |

When they had found the road and started down it, Helo pulled his bow free and set an arrow to the string. He held it so it rest across the saddle in front of him, in position to be lifted and drawn at a moment's notice. "Stay alert," he say softly, aiming his words at Noamuth. The lion grumbled that he would - silly elf - and began trotting ahead of his master, head raised to sniff at the air. |

Dora also couldn't help the flick of hurt that crossed her face when Reyvan snapped at her, but she was aware of it and ducked her head to try to hide it from the rest of the group. She sincerely hoped that Reyvan didn't take her concern in any negative way - she was not trying to suggest that the rogue was incompetent or any such thing. As a matter of fact, she had watched the way Reyvan moved, seen how quiet and deadly she could be, and Dora knew that the other woman was a force to be reckoned with. As a matter of fact, rogues were pretty much the only people she felt nervous when fighting against - she was big and strong and sturdy, and when fighting a warlock or a mage all she had to do was get within striking distance and they were finished - that was easy enough. But rogues... Pursing her lips, Dora shook her head minutely as she thought of the many painful run-ins she has had with them - quite a few of her scars are obviously dagger marks, some puffy and sickly-colored to this day from poisons. Anyway, Dora certainly knew that Reyvan wasn't a push over. She admired the quick, lithe way the other woman moved, the way she was able to focus enough to fade into oblivion right in plain sight, how she had the courage to sneak up on much better equipped foes with nothing but a dagger in her hands and still could come out on top... There was so much about Reyvan that Dora respected and admired that she couldn't help but worry that she'd offended her by accidentally insinuating that she was somehow weaker than Dora, "It is just better if I take their blows, so you can focus on doing what you do best - bringing them down." Smiling a little, she tried to buoy the situation, unease stirring deep in her at the thought she might have offended the other, "I'm just a distraction, a shiny woman with a shiny sword, so the three of you can do the real, hard work." 'You're being silly,' she chided herself, biting at a lower lip as she shifted on Zaa, to make sure she was ready for any possible attack, 'She doesn't give a damn about what you think about her. She has more important things to worry about than me.' |

Reyvan felt her embarassment deepen at the paladin's words. Ah, shit, now she's trying to make you feel better. Great job hiding your emotions, Rey. Really subtle. She straightened in her saddle, turning back to Zadora to reply, when she saw a movement at the edge of her vision. She looked over, casually, so as not to reveal that she had seen anything. Was it just her imagination, or did that patch of shadow against the stones look a bit unnatural? Another invisible Cultist? Only one way to find out. She sent a throwing knife whirring toward the patch of shadow. A Cultist fell to the ground with a muffled cry, knife burried deep in his chest. |

Helo, who had been looking carefully over the edge of the cliffside to gauge how far up they were, looked up sharply at the cry. "...nice throw," he said after a moment, eying the dead cultist. |

A frown settled on her features as the miserable creature sparked into sight, dead, "... and that's why you're not leading. You can't do that and focus on everything else, too, and doing that is more important." Steeling herself, she then twitched the reins ever so lightly, knowing Zaa wouldn't need any more than that to do as she had asked. Leading them out onto the path, she kept herself vigilant and alert, reins and shield in one hand, sword in the other. |

Upon retrieving her knife from the corpse, Reyvan guided Arcaedion onto the path after Zadora. In the back of her mind, she felt oddly grateful to the Cultist. He had provided her with a much needed distraction from her tumultuous thoughts and feelings. |
