Character Information Character Name: Ipsa Stoneguard Gender: Female Race, Class, and Spec: Tauren, shaman?, enhancement? (...OK, she's a retribution paladin, but SHE doesn't know that yet.) Appearance: All of the Salt People run towards a zebu cattle look, and Ipsa is no exception. Her nose is long, with elegant lines and a black muzzle that contrasts with her pale dappled fur, her horns tilt backwards in perfect line with her brow, and her ears are large, oval-shaped, and expressive. She is, if anything, a little embarrassed by these good looks. History: Before the Cataclysm, Ipsa lived with the rest of her clan among the Salt People. They were a loosely-affiliated group of clans living along the edges of the Shimmering Flats; trading the salt from the flats earned them their name. They were moderately nomadic in that they move with the seasons around and through the flats, subsisting on the animals of the mountains and flats and small herds of sheep and goats. In former times of drought and when the trading was poor, they had been known to send raiding parties up into the Thousand Needles. (You didn't think the Grimtotem and Freewind Post were on top of mesas for fun, did you?) Still, while the Salt People weren't not officially part of the Horde, the increased activity in Kalimdor also increased need for trade in commodities such as salt, which made those sorts of raids much less common. Seldom venturing out of the flats and the Thousand Needles area, they nonetheless had (and continue to have) a longstanding relationship of mutual loathing with the gnomes and goblins of the Mirage Raceways, considering both races to be wasting what few resources are present in the stark land. Hunters and shamans are the most common classes among the Salt People, and Ipsa was somewhat of a disappointment for not following in her hunter parents' footsteps. To add insult to injury, she turned out to be a terrible shaman: she could hear the spirits perfectly well, but they didn't talk TO her, and they certainly didn't do what she asked them to. This puzzle sent her to the best shaman among them, the elder Yilla Graycoat, where Ipsa stayed on as an apprentice while the Farseer tried to puzzle out the young shaman's problem. That was why Ipsa was there when the Seer had the last and most important vision of her long life: "RUN." The old shaman sent Ipsa and anyone else she could find to warn the other clans, to tell them they had to climb up the plateau edge as fast and as high as they could, leaving everything behind. Yilla Graycoat was the sole reason that any of the Salt People survived the Cataclysm: without her warning, the ocean would have drowned them all. She herself did not survive. The decimated Salt People have re-grouped along the edge of what had been the Shimmering Flats, eking out a perilous existence between centaur and Grimtotem. Ipsa is not among them; she refuses to explain when asked why. (Partly because she doesn't want to talk about it, partly because I'm still ironing out the exact particulars.) Personality: Ipsa is quiet, thoughtful, and always a little distant, a little guarded: she smiles, but rarely laughs. She's polite, usually very gentle and self-restrained. When she's angry, though, she's cold and implacable, and make no mistake: somewhere inside, she's always angry. Likes: * Rain. (The first time she encountered a good drenching rain, Ipsa may or may not have caught a cold from standing out in it too long.) * Basilisks. (...look, both of her parents had them, all right? She can't quite get over the feeling she should probably be feeding them scraps, helping them shed, and telling them how pretty they are.) * Spices hot enough to melt the average brain. (EVERYTHING tastes better with peppers!) Dislikes: * Being away from home * Wastefulness and/or frivolity * The sea (bad memories) * Any race whose adults are under four feet tall and start with a G (Ipsa hasn't met enough dwarves to decide if she hates them or not) Probable Allies: * Tauren * Shamans * ...People who are friendly to those who are not quite sure what the hell to do with themselves, which pretty much defines Ipsa entirely right now Probable Enemies: * Goblins * Gnomes * Engineers Sample Post: Ipsa wasn't sure how much time she had spent staring at the orc city of Orgrimmar. It was almost too much to take in; her mind had long since gone numb to the full impact of its outer wall, and begun to focus on tiny, incongruous details like the small green figures at the height of the thing, laying wooden beams, to a green shaman pouring water for thirsty workers, to the blue and green and pink forms that swarmed its entrance and the path into the structure. It was busier than any trade fair or town she'd ever seen. How did anyone find anything? Why would anyone live like that? She began to regret coming here and bypassing Thunder Bluff, which she assumed was more managable. Well, there was no help for it. Ipsa pinned her ears back, fixed her gaze firmly on the ground, and set off into the mess. Timezone: Central Did you read the rules? I did! I have a weak spot for Magatha Grimtotem! Yes, really. Yes, even after the Shattering. Yes, I know. |

Sounds like a fun tauren to have around. Welcome to the board ![]() I'm going to file her under Horde Paladin since it sounds like that's what she'll become. |

Yeah, at the moment, she's sort of... between classifications. *lol* Hopefully that will change! |
