The Universe is vast, and will continue to expand until the end of our time - no limits, no true dominion, and no turning back. Stardate: 135.26.4776 Amhira Station, a large orbital weapons arsenal under the command of the Allied Civics, has been destroyed. Falling debris brutally obliterated a new sentient species entering an era of civilization, on the distant planet of Loth. General Daius C. Capricorn of the AC has released an official statement, calling it an inadvertent travesty brought on by an electrical malfuntion. Everyone else, however, is left questioning why such a heavily-armed craft didn't have the necessarily-mandated safety precautions set to prevent mass destruction. Could it have been an intentional genocide..? Rumors are circulating in every language, through every culture. A sense of fear is rising towards the AC. If the faction ever spun out of control and sought conquest, who could stop them? Geeks. The Vector Assembly is facing the challenge of becoming the other side of the balance. They are building plans for an ultimate weapon, a world-killer, codenamed "Project: Helios." It could potentially render the AC's weapons useless with the mere threat of flipping a switch, and is intended to act as a deterrent from war and conquest. ...But a piece of machinery so terrifyingly powerful should never be brought into existence. This is the opinion of the Allied Civics after the Vector Assembly's official announcement. As the groundwork for "Project: Helios" begins, things are breaking apart. Trust is falling by the wayside, and the sense of kinship the galaxies once shared is being dissolved. Some think war is immanent, and have already begun to choose sides. Others seek shelter, and some have even come from the far reaches of space to attempt to diffuse the situation. But when you turn a deaf ear, in bias, towards the one who speaks... At this point, is peace and recovery even possible? Major Plot Threads Old to New
