I know this forum is not really "popular" as of yet, but if anyone has any suggestions or submissions for a site banner/portal, I will gladly take them in consideration. I am busy with alot of projects as of now, so it is difficult for me to try and focus on making a portal. I would appreciate any help that can be offered. For those who do not know what a portal/site banner is, it is that giant picture at the top of a page that sports the websites name, with a set theme, and usually links back to the main page when clicked on. (It will for here at least) |

I might try to make something for it. Uh, not entirely sure what you need made though. How big should it be? And what, other then the name, is supposed to be on it? |

Based on what I have heard around, about 600-800 x 100-200 ought to be a reasonable size. As for what should be on it. That is where I am stumped. If it were me, I would put a bunch of anime-ish pictures on it that matches the color scheme. You could also do something more realistic, like a tree overlooking a cliff in the sunset... You know, something artsy/inspiring/creative. I just do not have the time to work with such a thing. |

I tried to make one. You want me to post it, or pm it to you? |

Whee, I attempted. And failed miserably. But I figured I'd put it here anyways.![]() The whole "match the forums" part didn't really work, which I've decided is mostly because the forums are an ugly grey-green color on this computer. And the entire layout is just to monochromatic. For a forum based on being creative, it seems that it should be more colorful. Oh well, there's my pathetic attempt of the day. |

Wow, I really like the banner! But it is a real pain in the ass to change forum skins with zetaboards, so I want to keep it as is. (Unless it becomes really popular, and the members hold a petition or something...) Might I suggest trying a bit of green and navy blue? On my computer the forums almost seem to be a dark navy blue and light green color. Could you give those colors a shot? The banner is really nice though, don't get me wrong!! |

I tried that first. It looked ugly. Again, the colors are too monochromatic. It's grey-green and lighter grey-green. Really not the easiest colors to work with. But sure, I'll try blues and greens again and see what happens! EDIT: Whee, I attempted at recoloring. I made it more blue, since that's apparently the color of the forum. Matches alittle better, but still looks to sparkly and pretty to really match the skin I think. Loading... loading... loading...... And wow, that looks terrible with a black background. Hopefully I save it right for here. Nope. I'll go fix it. EDIT 2: Don't worry, I'll stop editting this eventually. ![]() Yay for fake transperancy, which should work until you make a second skin for the site. Edited by Dog Dog 123, Dec 3 2008, 01:02 AM.

Dog Dog's banner is pretty wicked. I've been meaning to ask, what photo editing software do you use? I'm guessing GIMP? I've only ever used that and PS myself. Anyway. I got bored, and instead of studying for my final I decided to give this banner making thing a try. I've never really made a banner or signature for that matter so I'd thought it would be interesting. I don't care if you use it or not, and personally, since Dog Dog's was here before mine I think her's would be priority. I just wanted to design something. Gotta get practice in somehow right? Photoshop CS3: 30 minutes. ![]() Note: I know the word 'forum' isn't present on the banner, I made it that way to make it appear a little more professional and intriguing. |

Whoa, those banners are both really impressive! I will have to say that Sasha's would probably go better with the forum though... However, since D-Dog has been working really hard with this I will take that in consideration. D-Dog, what is your opinion of the matter? |

His looks and fits better. Might as well use it. ![]()
Photoshop CS. Not like it makes much of a difference, since none of my stuff is ever that good anyways. Edited by Dog Dog 123, Dec 3 2008, 08:12 PM.

Whee, double posting cause I know no one would notice otherwise. There's a big blue blob next to the banner. I've decided that it's because I'm working with a 19 inch screen. But it's really bugging me because it doesn't match. |

Yeah, It doesn't fit on my screen either. Oh, and I doubt your stuff is as terrible as you say. When I was your age (god that makes me feel old saying that) I didn't know how to do ANYTHING in PS or any photo editing software for that matter. It's only recently I've learned to clean up my line art and color it. You have plenty of time to improve, and trust me you will. |
