For the past 2-3 days, Im getting these weird "BIP" sounds. it sounds abit like the sound when you get a message from a friend on Steam. It happened to me while playing BO few times now, and even wheni play something else or even just browsing the internet. I checked for messages, friend invites, steam inventory. just cant find an explanation. Anyone got a clue what it might be? |

It's the sound it makes every time Gabe Newell presses the button to start monitoring what you're doing. |

A question: Does it happen only when Steam is running or is it independent of Steam? Close Steam if you have chosen to start it with Windows and see if it happens. Also, identify the sound. Go to the folder Windows/Media and look at the default Windows .wav files. Play them and see if the sound you hear is amongst them... If it is, then it is Windows telling you something. The fileneame will give a clue. I've often heard the hardware remove sound when a driver is malfunctioning and this will continually make a sound as the hardware is dropped and re-recognised. |

Steam is working almost all the time, but it doesnt start with windows. Im running it after every reboot. Although i usually dont turn the PC off, i use the "Sleep" option all the time. and by that i think i dont have to start Steam again. I checked the Media folder and none sounds like it. I went to steam folder and found the "Message" sound. im almost sure that it is the same sound. |
