So I was trying to darken Scythian units and banners so I could see them better on the puke grassland, and I got a little carried away on the axe. I also made them younger and removed the nipple marks on their chest armor. ![]() Edited by Belle, 9th November 2010 - 09:17 AM.

Well, Scythians were nomads of the Steppe... how couldn't you get a tan? I gave them white horses now: Edited by Belle, 12th November 2010 - 01:24 AM.

tbh the nipples were ridiculous. its an armor plate ffs. Say how far could you take skin changing without going incompattible? |

You can change anything you want graphically and it's perfectly fine. If one wanted, they could make RTW look like RSII and still be compatible. |

I assume you dont have time to teach me how to do that? I have been wanting to modify unit skins a bit in the past but never rly had a clue how to. |

Actually i want to make my germania unique. I want to remodel it in a Khornate Chaos style. i do not really like or want to ask others for help, However i have no choice as i do not know shit bout skinning and do not want to ask those untrusty TWC ppl to do it for me. i dont have time to learn how to do it because i am in the final year of high school. if i am going to be indebted to a skinner then its going to be a clanny i know and trust. So if anyone is interested lemme know and we might be able to work some kind of deal out. |

Well, it's pretty easy to do. The important thing is basic competency with something like Photoshop including D3D/DDS recognition or a plugin (I got the nVidia plugin because CS3 didn't have it). There's well written guides on both TWC and RTW Heaven. Here's some of the fine references I used when I was first learning how to mod things, including the unit/texture guides I used. If it all looks like total Greek, then I'd probably need to write something nearly as tedious just to explain what you're reading, so it's all in the scope of what you're comfortable with--I was a little intimidated at first and it took a few reads. If you're only changing the textures (the color overlay) and not the skeletons (the shape), you only need to unpack the .pak files in Data with a PAK Extractor, remove the original .pak from the "packs" folder so the game searches the folders for the extracted files, then change the appropriate unit's .dds texture files in your editor. They can all be found in "Data\models_unit\textures." Of course I can help out with Q&A otherwise, so long as I understand the Q and know the A!
