Actually I saw this on one of belle's youtube vids and actually it would be kind of cool if you could get your own theme or clans could make their own themes for people. Now I know you can open and change tga format files with photoshop or gimp etc so I replaced the background and backdrop files with something random. Evidently that doesn't make a difference as the stupid animation keeps playing in the background and there is no visible change. I didn't expect to meet with any success as I have never really modded anything so if someone knows how to do it then explain. Also I didn't know where to post this thread and I didnt feel like going to the unruly masses at twc. |

In "Rome - Total War\preferences" you'll find a "preferences.txt" file. To turn off the FMV, make sure "DISABLE_BACKGROUND_FMV:TRUE" is the option. This will make the backdrop static. Be sure to do backups of your files before you mod them. PS: Edited by Belle, 22nd November 2010 - 06:35 AM.

I just replaced the "Dump0000.m1v" with a brief, converted m1v clip. |

"Rome - Total War\Data\menu" is where most of the main menu modding takes place. |

What program did you use to convert the videos to m1v? |

AVS Video Converter 6; I used the MPEG1 profile and changed the extension from mpg to m1v. |

Cool. I did it and it worked, but I got this irritating "You used a trial version of our product, so please rip yourself off and buy our full one to get this message to go away from the MIDDLE OF THE FREAKING MOVIE" message. It'll do for now though. Thanks, Belle.

You're welcome! I've long debated compiling a menu theme for public release to spice up the multiplayer a bit, including a revised HUD for battles (much more complicated to modify than menus), but I've been a little burned out from modding ever since finishing my previous releases. I'll likely share a large theme pack, a skin pack, 3.0 release of my primary mod, and maybe a few other tidbits someday soon. My interest and motivation for projects is ephemeral and cyclical--I eventually get around to things with due time.

How'd you get yours not to have that stupid message in the middle of the pic that mine has. D:< Did you use AVS? |

Oh, mine is a pirated copy. My theme is coming along too! I was so happy with my video background and little tweaks so far I blanked the battle and got completely owned by hidden cavalry while recording it all to share. Oh well, I could always use the recorded loss--it provides a stronger neutrality to harvest heroics. Edited by Belle, 23rd November 2010 - 02:55 PM.

What are you using to cap your films Belle? Its a great quality so I don't think its FRAPS or X-fire in game recorder. The theme looks amazing though

Could you post the link to the torrent you used to get that program that you used to convert the file extension of your background vid? |

Yeah, would be nice. I recorded some clips with Camtasia Studio and made it into an AVI. A converter would be awesome |

Tried using this converter: weqsoft.com/wmv-converter.htm Worked well enough for me and it didn't leave a watermark. Your vid does need to be in WMV format, though. Edited by Magic_8_Ball, 23rd November 2010 - 10:10 PM.
