Actually that has no effect on combat, mass deals with pushingpower, horse mass means a more effective charge with units flying around (not necessarily dying). |

No me what? Your statistics have little to no impact on the actual fighting that takes place. |

![]() I was told numerous times Mass had a large impact on the effectivness of the charge. Your the first person to disagree with this. |

Um, why not change the mass that of the greek cavs, or light lancers then, and measure a few different charges, then switch it back to normal and test again? |

Mass DOES have an impact on charge, it sends things flying around, but without a charge value, that mass sucks. |

Either that or he was inspired by the heavy EDU modding that takes place in the deep underground caverns of EB Online. For those curious, Lazy is correct. Say you have a higher mass. In the charge, this will be manifested by way of more enemy infantry being lunged outwards and upwards. In the ensuing melee fight, the higher mass will manifest itself by way of a stronger push on the part of the cataphracts. What the higher mass does not do is cause more casualties. How does this higher pushing power affect combat? Remember that the mass of the mount is taken into account for mounted units, not the mass of the unit itself. With this higher pushing power, your cataphract can literally push a compact, formed unit out of formation. By "opening up" the enemy's formation, as it were, what you have done is allowed your support infantry (assuming you've brought them to assist your cataphracts against any ground units) to target more individual enemy soldiers within the enemy unit. Previously, because the enemy unit was in a cohesive formation, each of his soldiers may have been able to defend against a multitude of your soldiers, but now, with the help of the mass of the cataphracts, his unit has lost this defensive advantage. You have secured a local victory. N.B. This tactic may not be as conspicuously useful in the average vanilla RTW MP experience, for many reasons, but primarily due to the relative quickness with which battles take place. If you are playing modifications that tend to have longer battles, the effect will become more pronounced, and thus more useful. |
