I gave nest boxes to my two shaded does last night. Immediately Sandpiper tossed all of the hay out of her box, then regathered it. Stride wanted nothing to do with it. A few hours later I was checked them before bed and Sandpiper had pulled a ton of fur. Stride was gathering her hay. This morning I caught Stride pulling some fur!!! Piper is due on the 30th and Stride on the 1st. I haven't felt this excited in a long time... I haven't been having the best of luck but I'm hoping these girls will turn it around! Sandpiper is super fat (hoping that will mean more babies and easier birth). I haven't checked how round Stride is lately as while I was feeling Piper, Stride was pulling fur and I didn't want to bother her.

Thanks guys! Sandpiper is pulling fur for the second time. Usually she pulls fur right when I give her a box, then again before she kindles. Looks like she may be popping early?! If I can get my pictures to upload, I'll post some here. *edit* Well, Piper had hers! She has 3 NORMAL babies! All are chubby and look healthy. This is a first for her... she is a small doe that I usually worry a bit about. Her first time she had a normal one, a peanut, then had troubles with another that ended up stretched. Second time, she had 2 peanuts, a normal one then a normal the next day (healthy!). Third, she had 2 normal ones and 3 peanuts (surprise, the only sable point was a peanut). I'm surprised that she had such a good litter... no excuses this time, she's a sable point bred to a sable point so she can't throw all torts on me. Two look sable point and one is either a lighter sable point or "something else". I don't want to jinx it. Anyway, I brought up the babies and left the original nest box with mom, just in case she wants to have any more. Just waiting on Stride, who is due on the 1st. |

WHOOOO HOOOOO for Piper! So glad to hear she had an easy delivery and 3 Normal Babes. Love the photo of Piper giving you the "stink eye". It's like, you want babies don't you so why bother me while I'm preparing, lol. And that sweet baby. Do you think REW, or Sable Point? I guess you really won't know until the little one furs up. Fingers crossed for your Beautiful Stride! Hoping she has an easy go of it and gives you the same type of litter Piper did. No peanuts! Love the cute photo of Shoes and Sakura and Grandma Toby! Definitely so excited for you Sidd! Please keep us updated! KAZ |

Thanks ya'll. Piper decided to be an overachiever and now has 6 babies. No peanuts. Hm... this from the queen of peanuts? I hope she can take care of them all or I'll be able to foster over a few to Stride. Pictures! ![]() First 3. Buck, doe, doe. ![]() The other 3. Doe, buck, doe. ![]() Groupie ![]() Frontal Still in shock! Gotta say it... the only other time that I have had a Holland with 6 healthy babies was over 3 years ago. One of my first litters and she was 4.5 pounds. Crazy! The last time I had a litter over 2 was around the end of August. Since then I have been trying but only have had 6 healthy ones out of all those litters. Piper wanted to show off I guess... she must have heard me saying that she would be going to a new home after this litter. Bribery to stay?!

Big WHHOOOOO HOOOOO again for Piper. LOVE the group photo! 6 healthy babies. I don't think it was a bribery Sidd. I think Piper decided it was time this draught of small litters and peanuts stopped at your rabbitry and was putting out the challenge to the other does. See WE can do it! Let's make lovely Sidd happy by giving her lots of healthy lovely holland babies. Absolutely so thrilled for you Sidd. How's Stride doing? Anything yet? Please keep us updated! KAZ |

Beautiful! And looks like lots of sable points? Curious - why do you have the ears marked on two? |

Aw, thanks guys! So sweet. That really made my day. Babies and Sandpiper are doing well! She is an impeccable mother. With her duos, she was always very attentive and fed them way too much. Once they get a bit older, she loves cuddling with them and grooming them. I'm really hoping that all (or most) will have lopped ears. Buggers.Nothing from Stride yet. She's due tomorrow, fingers crossed she either pops today or tomorrow, so I can keep a close eye on her while she has them. I can only wake up once through the night then early, so I do get worried about that. Looks like 5 sable points and one light one (first one in the first pic, 3rd in the groups). I don't see any shading whatsoever, he's totally pink. We'll see. 3 are actually marked on the ear, looks like 1 in each picture moved so you couldn't see it. Those are the ones that were born the next day. Just wanted to keep tabs on them since I wasn't sure if they would make it and they do have a different birth date. |
