Glad to her Piper and babies are doing well. Smart move with marking the ones that have a different birth date, so you can observe them. Wouldn't have even thought of that.

Fingers crossed for Stride.

Stride had 4 healthy babies this morning!

Sandpiper's are still super fat... they all look overfed.

WHOOOO HOOOO for Stride! Four healthy babies. See she took up the challenge Piper laid down. Did you get all black?

Sounds like Piper is doing an excellent job. I guess having lots of milk is a lot better than having none. Do you think removing the kits for once a day feeding could stop the overfeeding?

Wow - nice baby boom!

overfeeding won't hurt I don't think. They won't actually drink more than they can hold (mom has no ability to force-feed a kit that lets go) - and the extra will help them grow fast.

I can understand Sidd's concern regarding overfeeding. My concern as well, just like lack of feeding. Have read breeder experiences where kits who are piggies, and there are those that will eat until the burst (the ones that like to hang on), will have problems with legs (splay or weak) and digestive issues in the future. They are so swollen they can't use their legs and their digestive system relies on mobility.

Plus I would think though it's good that they grow fast, I guess you don't want them to grow too fast. Could create problems?

I would just watch them as you do anyway. You got to love those does that produce such fine milk and lots of it. Just have to watch how the kits take it. And watch those that tend to overindulge at the milk bar.

I'm not concerned about Piper's babies, just surprised. I didn't think she would be able to feed all of those babies herself. She is such a small doe, I am impressed. Almost all of my does "overfeed" their babies. I get worried when I don't see them stuffed after a feeding. However, none of my girls have 6 little mouths to feed so it was surprising. They are getting along just fine, I let them out of a towel once or twice a day to help work their legs. I did have a kit with splayed leg once, it wasn't fun. All of my babies stay upstairs where it's warm in the Winter and go down with mom once a day. :D

Here are Stride's babies. She has 2 sable points (buck and doe), a lighty (I am quite certain that the light ones are REW now - doe), and a dark one that I would like to get thoughts on. Yesterday it looked more blue, now it is darker. I thought it was a siamese sable yesterday but now I'm thinking seal but I have never had one. Thoughts? Stride is siamese sable and dad is sable point.

And a few days ago, I tried to get a picture of some big tummies but instead got some bunny kung foo.

Thanks so much for the update! They all look so good. Very well proportioned. Both Moms are doing great. And you have a small doe that is handling a big litter (well big for a dwarf breed). Excellent!

Thanks for a little insight on how you handle your litters. Meaning the exercise and feeding arrangements.

You know me Sidd, would love to comment on colors, but will wait and hope you post photos when they are more furred. Definitely will be interesting to see what the darker one turns into. Well, have to say I will be interested to see how ALL of them develop.

So thrilled for you Sidd. Hopefully this is a sign of better times than you have had. Kind of makes you appreciate it more having those hard times?

Thanks again for sharing your lovely Hollands.

I think seal or dark sable -- not that I've ever had on in person.

Babies and moms are doing well, thanks. One in Piper's litter is a bit runty, not sure about him. All of those ones are well fed. Stride's are fed, but not as well as I would like. I'll bring them back to her tonight in hopes of her getting more milk. :D

Oh, and thanks for your thoughts on color, Neubunny. Will keep everyone updated! I'm really excited about the REWs... I have been wanting them forever.

Glad to hear all is well. Fingers crossed for the smallest one of Piper's kits. Could be just one that grows a bit slow?

Hoping the second feeding went well for Stride's kits? Maybe they could belly up to the Piper milk bar once or twice until Stride really comes into her milk?

Stride's are very fat from this morning's feeding, so that's good! I took some pictures today, hoping to get them up by tomorrow.

Here are the pics! :D Lighting in the house + flash make the sable points look darker... they're pretty dark but not as much as it looks in the pictures. Oh well.

Awww, babies are so sweet.

Some colors are tough when it comes to the lighting and flash.

Glad to see all are doing well. How's the Mom's doing?
