sounds like my usual paranoia/superstition -- the one you really want most you live in fear something will go wrong. And selling a 'backup' is a surefire jinx.

Exactly. :giggle: Maybe I'll put him in a corner cage and pretend I don't like him for a while...

Don't "jinx" yourself. Maybe putting him in that cage and pretending you don't like him, will help you. Understand being nervous, especially after all those things that came about for your past bucks. Fingers crossed for this little guy. Hoping he is the "odd man" who gives you lots of healthy babies. Trying to impress you because he thinks you don't like him.

Fingers crossed for Custer. Hoping she does well for her first time. Sounds like a good start with some fur pulled. Go Custer!

Fingers also crossed for Finch with her third litter.

Let go of that REW doe. Really let her go. She'll make someone an awesome sweet pet. Keep repeating to yourself, Petite (not bad) tight crown (trying to better my Hollands).

Again, can't wait to hear the news of healthy Moms and lovely Holland kits.

Even with their "ugly" stage, they are still cuties!

My fav... Natsu.

Natsu is a bit younger, so isn't really into the ugly stage yet. I'm not sure about keeping her... I guess that depends on whether her ears start falling more before she sells. If it weren't for the tight crown, I wouldn't even think of letting her go.

My fave is Haiku... I'm really excited about her! A lot of this generation of shadeds were unexpectedly massive (which is what you want) when I've been having issues with that. I also have a sable point doe from Sandpiper... but I gave her to a local breeder for a few litters before she comes back. Really wide with a huge HQ and nice bone... so I'm pretty excited. Of course the buck doesn't have much mass but at least his head is promising and he has a nice HQ too. Anxiously waiting for them to grow up and make the next gen. <3

Thanks Sidd, after reading your views on your HL's can see what you are talking about. How to choose for good conformation. Understand about Natsu's tight crown.

Have to say, after really looking at Haiku, stunning girl. My husband says to tell you he hopes she grows out lovely and gives you some lovelies like her in the next generation.

Please post pics of Haiku after the "ugly" stage, which isn't really ugly. lol

Thanks for sharing the new pictures! Haiku is gorgeous! Looking past the molting and uglies, lol, I really like her. She looks like she has lots of mass. Of course the other two are adorable too!

lol - these aren't terribly young. Some people (not me) can tell the difference on day old kits.

Usually, we can tell at about 4 weeks old. Turn the bunny upside down (securely so they don't struggle). Press lightly above the genitals. In males, a tube pops out which has a nice round dot (opening) at the tip. In females, you just see a slit -- sometimes it protrudes out a bit, but if it does, it still has a long slit, not a dot.

Rarely, male bunnies can have a 'split penis' - in which the opening is longer rather than round. Those can fool you into thinking they are does. 'SplitP' seems to have a strong genetic component - never breed a rabbit that has a split P. I have one (an angora) in the barn (nominally belongs to my younger daughter still) - he has a bad split and acts more like a fixed male (no interest in girls, no spraying, etc).
