Not quite spring cleaning, but warmed up enough to get those frozen trays out finally! We had moved rabbits so those cages were empty - but still. And able to scrape all the muck from the insides of those and others. Then sprayed all the cages down with vanodine.

Not JWs, but also bred Della (French angora) and Stella (Josh's opal minirex) yesterday. Weird behavior -- or at least different for us. Della, who had been moaning and acting like she desperately wanted to be bred freaked at first and tried to chew her way out of the cage (not normally a wire puller). Malakbel tried, but not entirely sure he got her. They settled down to cuddling after an hour. Stella and Kage chased each other in circles. He was extremely eager, and she lifted at least once. Usually I leave does in with the bucks 24 hours, but was really afraid they would run themselves to death -- after two hours they were still circling, mounting, circling again (and neither interested in dinner until separated). Stella and Malakbel are my rainbow pairing (genes are there for everything but shaded and chin). Stella and Kage should give opal (50%), blue otter (25%) and blue (25%) - he likely carries REW, but I don't think she does.

Finally tackled those frozen trays. That's a job in itself. Glad to hear you had enough nice weather to finally be able to get those frozen trays out and cleaned.

Maybe weird behavior because of the weird weather? Sounds like they want to but not really sure that the weather has actually changed?

Anyway, fingers crossed for Della and Stella. Hoping to hear GREAT news in a months' time!

I cleaned one pan. LOL The rest are stuck to the bottom of the cages in corners and I'll need some more supplies and some gloves. xD

4 in the Nestbox for Personality! Tricky doe hid them well. WAY in the back of the box at the bottom, surrounded by wool -- then she put hay back on top - and left a little pile of wool in the front of the box (so we would check there first and think there weren't any babies? - if that was the plan, it would have worked on me -- Jillian had seen her in the back of the box grunting earlier, so checked more thoroughly)

No peanuts, all look healthy and round already.

3 lightly marked brokens -- dark markings - black or sable - self/otter/marten can't tell yet with that little color.
1 solid 'blue'. Very pale silvery -- too soon to tell if this is blue or smoke - I can usually tell the tan markings from selfs right away, but not really sure this time - everything is pale. Jillian says she thinks the markings are there. So fingers still crossed for smoke pearl marten.

Took some photos last night -- active babies, was like trying to hold popcorn. Finally went with individual photos, but still blurry (bad lighting didn't help).

On the blue - now definitely pink inside the ears and belly - so tan pattern.

The last one is a bit of a puzzle...The marks around his eyes are VERY dark (black?) but the markings on his back are more a silvery color. Can't decide if he is dilute or not -- or maybe shaded? So hard with so little color to work with.

3 more "Jake babies" -- Jillian reports Serenity has 3 in the nestbox -- all solid - 1 blue otter/marten and 2 black otter/marten. (blues could be smoke, blacks could be sable - we aren't good at that yet).

7 JW babies in the nestboxes!

Nice looking babies... good sized. Can't wait to see what color they all turn out to be.

Congrats on the lovely litters... finally!

lol - 4 babies for Serenity too. We found the little black wandering the floor outside the cage last night when I got home from work and Jillian went to show me the babies. Jillian swears it wasn't in the nest box that morning - nor mid-afternoon when she checked on them. Most likely, Serenity had it on the wire (and was sitting on it when Jillian checked). It was still warm and active - so either it was born later or it spent most of the day in the cage with mom keeping it warm. Appear to have been fed -- just as round as the sibs, though a little 'wrinkly'. Safely in the nest box with siblings now.

Didn't get a photo, but held the two blue otter/martens (one from each litter) next to each other for a comparison. I held one, Jillian the other so we wouldn't get them mixed up accidentally. Serenity's blue is a 'warmer' color (browner) than Personality's. Not really sure whether that indicates shaded (Jillian thinks it does) or just two different shades of blue.

Total = 8 babies. Jillian is happy - apparently 8 is 'just right' to name them after the Hetalia micro nations.

Very exciting! Love the names. So glad Jillian found the 8th one. How's he/she doing?

Now it's a waiting game on the otter vs marten question! Fingers crossed it's marten!

Molossia (wandering black) is doing well. Keeping up in size with siblings, and hasn't wandered off again.

Added some pieces of screen around the cage bottom for 'baby saver'. Still a gap at the door (if I put screen there, the door wont latch) - but much more secure.
