triangle update ... think Seakun is turning cream at the triangle (just not as white as in the ears anymore).

Ladonia's triangle has almost completely disappeared! As in the nape looks completely blue - blended into the head/body fur. lol - maybe we obsessed too much. Belly and ears are still bright white, I'm leaning towards calling that one silver marten anyway.

Ladonia and Seborga out of the nest and snuggling with mama Personality this morning. Seakun, HuttRiver and Wy also out of the nestbox exploring - mama Serenity IN the nestbox with Molossia. Time to get rid of the nestboxes in favor of a pile of hay.

Start of Day 31 for Stella (minirex) and Della (angora) - no babies there yet. Not completely sure Della took, but Stella has a huge solid tummy.

3 healthy babies and one peanut for Stella. All blue otter/opal.

Fur in Della's nest, but no babies yet.

Alright Stella! Josh must be excited!

Fingers crossed for Della! Hoping the sign of fur in the nest box is a sign that healthy kits will arrive soon!

Josh was so funny. When I suggest we go out to the barn to check, he was basically - 'we just checked yesterday, do we have to' (waiting on guinea pig babies for weeks now has gotten tiring) and totally bored -- spotted fur in the nest, and then babies, and he was grinning ear to ear.

Go Della! Hopefully she will have some nice, healthy babies soon. Not sure if you all ready posted, but what color is she and what was she bred to?

Going to put Della back in the rainbow litter string (color and genetics section)...

Both of Jillian's blues are definitely otters now ... Can definitely see the 'creamier' color to Ladonia's ears and cheeks next to the white of the brokens. I think Kugelmugel - the lightest broken - is marten (no cream at all to his ears).

Sorry to hear Jillian's blues are actually Otters. Was so hoping they were Martens. Now are otters an acceptable pattern in JW's?

Oh yes -- otters are showable in black and blue (not chocolate and lilac though, last presentation didn't go well on those 2, so the COD had to start over). Jillian has mostly black otters - the blues are a really nice addition and a step closer to her goal, if not making it in a single leap. Having them be martens too would have been icing on the cake - but they are 'keepers' regardless. Kugelmugel - the lightest broken, who we think is marten - will likely also be a keeper - even if he doesn't end up making the 10% color (so close). The others she will have to decide based on odds that they are shaded carriers and type.

Great to hear that black/blue otters are a showable variety.

Now Jillian has a great selection with her new kits to be able to go forward with her program. EXCELLENT!

A step closer is better than no step at all. :D Still exciting!

Despite playing with these two litters every day (because they are still in Jillian's room) we've been remiss and not taken pictures... here's today - 1 month old already! Love JW in the 'fluffball' stage!

Serenity's litter:

Seakun - definitely blue otter - doe

Posted Image

Molossia - black doe
Posted Image

Wy - black otter doe (this one really poses nicely!)
Posted Image

Hutt River - black otter buck (pose? but there's way too many interesting things to check out)
Posted Image

and Personality's litter:

Ladonia - doe - still going back and forth whether she is blue otter (really low rufus if she is) or blue silver marten.
Posted Image

Kugelmugel - broken marten (I think blue, but Jillian thinks black - probably doesn't make 10% color in any case) buck
Posted Image

Seborga - broken black otter doe
Posted Image

NicoNico - broken black otter doe
