Can't believe it. Friday will mark Dobby and Kreacher's 3rd birthday. In June, it will be 3 years since bunnies entered our lives. What an experience it has been. Thanks to these two, learned all I could about what it's like to have a bunny. We started out just wanting two for pets. And then it grew, as we found out different things about the bunny world and what could be done. I truly can't believe how fragile these little creatures are. Amazing. But these two have brought us to this point. Absolutely in love with rabbits. A very well rounded experience and journey. Thanks Dobby ![]() Thanks Kreacher ![]() Wishing you many more happy birthdays. And looking forward to learning more about rabbits through both of you! You taught us well! KAZ |

Thanks Sidd, they are lovely bunnies. We really got lucky with their personalities and temperament. After the little scare that Kreacher gave us, and it was scary because we knew nothing about rabbits, it went smoothly after. Had no clue what ear mites could do to a rabbit. And we found out that those two were survivors from two different litters. Never knew about fostering either. Two drops of Ivermetic (sp?) in each ear, and by the next day, Kreacher was ready to escape. The breeder was just as thrilled as we were, because she also knew about our past loss and really wanted this to work. And it did. We even went down to see the breeder again just to visit and thank her for how she worked with us. Kreacher, actually clammered into the carrier where Dobby was waiting. Kreacher was just so happy to see Dobby, at least that's what it appeared to be to us. They groomed each other all the way home. Unfortunately that love fest didn't last too long, as after neutering, we had an issue, and had to split them. That was tough for us, but it was the best for them. This foundation pair taught us a lot about what a rabbit is. Also taught me how to form the bond of trust. And how trust is so important for a rabbit regarding stress. Gain trust, which alleviates stress in the rabbit. So we knew from that point that it was necessary to "take a step back" and really start observing these two little bunnies. With the observation, gained knowledge, which led to research, and more knowledge. Which all came down to the point that rabbits are fragile, and that you must adhere to a strict diet, and lots of exercise and play. When we found out about wheat grass, it became a lot easier. Both Dobby and Kreacher have thrived with this wheat grass. Knock on wood, Kreacher has never been ill again. Dobby has been in perfect health. Both have been a joy to have around and both give us just as much joy back. Yes times flies, but now that I look back, it was the best decision we could have ever made, bringing these two sweet bunnies into our home. A heck of start for Z-Rabbits. Through these little guys, we have learned so much about this New World of Rabbits. Love it! KAZ |

Today's the day. Dobby and Kreacher turn 3! Our big boys now. The adults. Our teachers of the Bunny World. Both are happily chowing down on morning hay, after pellets and a treat of sunflower seeds. Love my First buns. Thankfully they have forgiven me for being a novice at first. They taught me well! Happy Birthday Boys! May you have many more! Sorry no photos of party hats! Will just spoil them when I get home from work tonight! KAZ |

Happy Birthday, Dobby and Kreacher! ![]() My first bun is turning 7 this month. At least I think he is... just an estimate. If anything, he may be a bit older. Not sure. He's not feeling the best lately, but he has been doing this sort of thing often since he was 2 years old. |

Hoping your Birthday bun is feeling better. Us, senior citizens do get more aches and pains, lol. Willard has an estimated birthday too. I think he's a bit older than what I thought at first too. Hoping my Birthday boys can reach that ripe ole age too. Will do my best to continue the spoiling, as they are truly worth it. Opened up a totally new experience for us, and today, could not think of being without them. KAZ |

Thanks! She's a big brood doe, but one of my favorites. I also think black Hollands are pretty... even better that she carries shaded. ![]() Hope your boys had a great day! |

Are those netherlands? Are they friendly or shy and skittish. I've heard small rabbits like that are very shy and kind of skittish and hard to bond with. I find that to be true as I've had many big bunnies and when I adopted Sonny & Sadie, I was told they were gonna be 8 lbs but they are less than 5 and very hard to tame and bond with. |

Dobby is definitely a Netherland. Kreacher, we call a Polish, but I think it's a mix between ND and Polish. Had no problems bonding with my small rabbits. They are tame, have great personalities. Yes, they are a bit skittish than my bigger rabbits. It did take a bit longer for them to settle in and gain that trust (bond) but it was worth the effort. Only had one doe who was a bit "food aggressive", but worked with her, and now she's as sweet as the rest. Love seeing her little face in the morning now. When small rabbits hit maturity, even if they are not neutered/spayed, they still are great to have around. It's basically the time you put into them, that helps form that bond. It takes work on your part, but definitely time well spent. And that goes for the big buns too. KAZ |

The most important part about small bunnies, is that if the breeder handles them, the breeder breeds for "good temperament", small bunnies can be your best friend! I have 8 that proves that point! KAZ |
