Yup, definitely a runt and not a peanut. :)

Congrats on your first litter!

Things aren't looking good for the little one, he is really scrawny and weak today, don't think he got fed last night, i'm not gonna try to save him as I don't feel the chances are good anyway but I'll let him die naturally and you never know he might surprise me but I really do expect to find him dead tomorrow. On the other hand the other 3 are looking great which I have to be happy about

Sorry to hear about the runt. Who knows, though? He may surprise you! One of my kits has the same thing going on. I've tried twice today to give her extra feedings on her mom, but she wasn't super interested. I've had kits before who seem to miss a feeding - or even two - and start to get weak like that, but the next morning they are all full of milk and doing better.

Yeh it's not over yet I guess he still has a chance, just not sure a little one like that can afford to miss a feed, he looks even smaller today compared to his siblings, we are preparing for the worst but hoping for the best

fingers crossed. Except for the small size, he looks more like a runt to me than a peanut. But a weak runt often can't compete with larger siblings.

Crossing national lines certainly makes figuring out which breed is which difficult. I know that in the UK, our Holland lop is called a Miniature lop (not minilop) and our minilop is called a dwarf lop. However, there are enough differences (subtle things like bone, ear carriage, pose) in the breed standards each country follows that they should probably really be considered 4 separate breeds. Weight range on our minilops is 3-6 pounds.

Oh yes, runts sometimes don't make it as well. I've had some do just fine on their own and others that simply cannot thrive.

Peanuts are much smaller with bulgy heads/eyes and tiny triangle ears.

How is it today?

He is alive and actually doing pretty good today, he was quite active and seemed to have had a good feed last night although i'm still not sure if he is just a runt he looks strange to me, his head does bulge slightly and eyes a bit too but everything else seems in proportion, yesterday he looked a bit weak but seems to have came good today attaching a picture of him yesterday when he wasn't looking too good, let me know what you all think

Definitely a runt... I have Holland Lops, a dwarf breed and that's not a peanut. Typical runt. The other one in the pic looks great! :D

I think you both might be right, he looks fantastic today and might be starting to catch up a little bit too :woot:

I have a question though about when to remove the nest box, I know most people do it around 14 days up to 3 weeks if it's cold, these are indoor bunnies so it's nice and warm so do you think it would be ok to remove it at 14 days?

Also the mother is driving me crazy with peeing everywhere all up the outsides of the nest box and all over her cage, is this intentional like her way of marking the area so no one comes near the babies? Such a mess

Anyway here's some pics of them at 6 days old

Cuties! It should be fine to remove the box at 14 days, but I never have a certain scheduled date. I actually like to leave mine in a little longer (like 3-4 weeks) so that they have a nice comfy place to rest. You will know when it's time - when they're spending more time outside of the nest box than in it. If they are getting out and having trouble hopping back in, but not quite ready to be without it, you can flip it on its side or place a clean brick in front to give them a little boost.

Cute pictures!

Could the nest box be in her usual "potty place"? Maybe try moving it. If she is in a solid bottom cage, you can likely take out the box at 2 weeks old if you add a lot of bedding in hay in one corner, acting like a nest.

I guess I'll just take it as it comes then and see when they are ready for me to remove the nest. The nest is in the opposite corner to her litter box and she never did it until the babies were born, very weird but I guess I'll just have to clean lots, she never pees in the nest box just around it, very annoying though

Do you own a buck or any other rabbits? If she smells other rabbits on her babies/nest box (like if you touch them before taking care of her) she might be "marking" her kits' nest area. It sounds strange, but I heard of something similar happening to another breeder.
