Eve pulled fur on and off all day long, and finally around 4:00 in the afternoon, she kindled 6 kits. One of them was DOA, but we have 5 sweet healthy babies! Two are solid tort, and three are broken tort. I guess I had forgotten how tiny the Hollands are, because Cal kits are definitely bigger than this... ![]() ![]() I'm so pleased with how Eve did. She pulled a ton of fur and did a fabulous job kindling. Coby is also now officially proven! Eve was not so cooperative when I bred her, and only ended up lifting twice. I always do a 1-hour breed back with my Hollands, but she was having nothing to do with that so I just crossed my fingers that she would take. I *thought* I could feel 1-2 kits when I palpated her, but even that was a little uncertain so I really wasn't positive she was expecting until I could actually see babies moving and she started laying down a lot. Needless to say, I am thrilled to have a healthy litter from my first-time doe! |

Lost the littlest solid tort sometime last night. She didn't look like she had been eating very much at all, and I couldn't get her to nurse on Eve despite two tries at extra feedings. On the bright side, the remaining 4 are thriving! I could just sit and hold them all day

So sorry to hear you lost the little one but it sounds like you did all you could and the other 4 look very healthy, they certainly are adorable. I haven't checked on mine just yet but I'm pretty sure the runt wont have made it over night. |
