Yup - my favorite is about 4 weeks when they start to turn to puffballs. Going to be fun (and hard) to select a keeper. Prior litters I've selected mostly for color (trying to get a core of chocolate tort or at least genes that will contribute to chocolate tort in the next generation) and a little bit on personality. Should be able to really focus on selecting among these for good wool.

A few new photos as they enter the puffball stage (3 and a half weeks).

Maia's torts - 6 is a lot to get in one photo!

Still debating whether the lightest is a lilac tort. Can't judge by eye color - only one has brown eyes so far - the darkest of the litter - the other 5 are all blue-grey. Of course, Maia's eyes started a brilliant aquamarine (which none of these has) and gradually darkened through green to brown by about 3 months old. No question that she was chocolate though, as her face was quite dark. These guys seem to have the whole spectrum.

And the other three...

2 chocolates and a chocolate pearl. All three also have the blue-grey eyes still. The two chocolates are distinctly different 'shades' - dark chocolate and milk chocolate. Wonder if the lighter one may be a genetic sable like Zoe (grandmother)?

And Zoe's 4 'chunks' - lol you can tell mom has more milk for them being only 4 in this litter in contrast to Maia's 9.

Jillian was playing with the REW (her favorite color) and concluded she is a doe (90% sure) and named her Tsukiyama (Japanese goddess of the moon).

Love the pile of Angoras as I missed that post completely.

And now, FURBALLS! And absolutely loving the Chocolates!

All of them really look good. Love Zoe's chunky monkeys! Well you will know Zoe can handle more than 4!

Zoe's first litter was 5 -- this seems to be her normal. She's finally OK with me reaching in and petting. Up until yesterday that was risking getting my hand taken off. VERY protective mother, until the kits are 'big enough' in her mind. I'm thinking I will sell her after this litter is weaned -- too many nice babies I want to keep.

I thought around 6 was normal for French angoras. But Della had 8 and now Maia's 9 really have me wondering. It's a LOT of kits to manage all at once. And my 'big' breeding cages seem really small for that many.

I seriously could not imagine looking in at 8 or 9 baby bunnies in one cage! When my doe had 6, I was floored every time I saw all of those little ones bouncing around.

Zoe was apparently visited by the doe fairy. Jillian say all 4 kits are does.
REW is named Tsukihime - which Jillian tells me is a Japanese moon goddess.
I picked Sekmet - Egyptian lion goddess - for one chocolate tort.
Need two more goddess names I guess! (No XipeTotec, which is what I had tentatively picked for a buck).

Maia's litter is a bit more even...
Chocolate pearl doe is Cinderella
Both chocolates are does - Scheherazade and Ezmerelda
One chocolate tort is a doe - Rapunzel
4 chocolate torts (one is still lighter and might be lilac tort) are bucks - Rumpelstiltskin and ...?
One chocolate tort is still a ?

Nice names! I hope Jillian had a good time in Japan, assuming that she's now home. :D

Yes - she's been home a month already. I think she had a wonderful time. Now she's trying to focus on senior year -- she opted for a heavy load - AP English, plus Chinese (2nd year), French (1st year - online) and Spanish (1st year, classroom)!
