Vienna, my new tort doe, kindled today - 3 kits! One is a peanut, but the other two are nice and plump. I only felt one when I palpated her, so it's good to have 2 viable kits! The solid is a black otter, and looks like a doe. The broken looks like a buck - and I'm thinking he's self black, not otter. Thoughts welcome! In person the inside of his ears look mostly solid, but they are lighter near the base of the ear. These are my first non-tort kits, I'm so excited to watch them grow up! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks! Dam is black tort. Sire is broken black otter- as far as I know, he's ataB_C_D_EE. Really hope the broken kit is self black, as I won't be keeping any otters. This was a shared breeding with a friend's buck. She raises otters, so hopefully it will work out for both of us to keep a kit! |

Any black on the tummy of the broken? Otters will have pink bellies. Of course, broken could put pink on the belly too, but even a splash of black underneath would indicate it isn't otter. Otherwise, you have to wait for eye circles to develop (or not) on a broken. |

Love the face on the broken black - Perfectly balanced little white spots by the eyes. Very unusual and striking! |

Kits are getting big. Love that broken. Agree with Neubunny, perfectly balanced pattern. Definitely is striking. KAZ |
