yeah she's eating great ^_^ Went out and got her alfalfa, is one handful once a day until kits come this Friday ok/safe? My friend also recommended one tablespoon of sweet horse feed.

update! Next box has gone in and she's starting to put some more weight back on ^_^ Kits are moving and I have a feeling this might be a large litter lol which is great because I'll have a lot to choose from hopefully :)

me to! She's due tomorrow eekk! I haven't been this excited over a litter in a while! Probably because it's my first for my new rabbitry and the breeders they come out of. I hope I strike bunny gold! Babies were kicking today and mom is continuing to put weight back on. ^_^ I'll check her first thing tomorrow morning, hopefully no going over due!

Update 10/31/2014-

Palomar gave birth to five little babies! :bundance2: Two are peanuts (one was born dead or died during birth) and one is still alive. So I have three healthy little babies! One might be a tort and the other two (normal ones) are darker, most likely black (highly doubt Siamese Sable). I will get pictures up later today, she was a bit high strung and guarding her babies so I will give her time to relax! ^_^ I have to say, after having large litters, I much prefer smaller ones of 3 or 4 kits. Looks like I was pretty close on getting the number down when I palpated, wohoo!

Woo, congrats! That's awesome. I also prefer litters of 3-4. Can't wait to see pictures and I hope she takes good care of them. :)

Here are the little guys! So far I have a sable point, tort (peanut kit), a black and a funky black ? All are doing great! Mom has already nursed the little bunch! :wubz: :wubz:

All together! Mom didn't finish up cleaning the peanut kit on it's ear but I think she may know it won't make it.

I think your 'wonky' is a sable.

Well NeuBunny I think you are correct on that!! Here is a picture of day 1 and it is VERY clear it is not a black but a sable!! The odds of that happening between a Sable x Tort was so low but I got lucky!! ^_^ The pink one, I'm still on the fence on sable or something like Himi or Rew (sire carries REW and most likely the dam). Normally, sable infants at day 1 (for me) start to get a silver cast to them but time will tell with this little guy or gal ^_^ Mom is doing great job with them! Peanut is still hanging in there, will keep it in the box for now, helps keep everyone warm for now that is.

Day 1!

Update day 2!
Everyone is doing great! Pink one is getting some silver color showing up as well ^_^ Flash makes the sable seem darker than it really is, it's a dusky blue color. Peanut isn't doing so well, probably take care of it tomorrow.

Everyone is doing great. Palomar is still not putting on weight, it has slightly improved but hasn't gotten worse. It seems the alfalfa is what's improving her but I don't want to give her too much. I have her on oats and sweet horse feed (less than a tablespoon a day). She's drinking plenty and poop is good. Not sure what else to do.

Extra alfalfa is fine while she's nursing -- all the excess calcium is going to go into the milk for building baby bones at this point (high calcium risk of developing bladder stone is the main reason one doesn't feed alfalfa to adult rabbits routinely).

ok thanks ^_^ I'll keep giving it to her :-D I didn't think about the extra calcium going to the kits, that's good for them ^_^

So cute! I agree that one looks like a siamese sable or blue. Nice colors! :woot:

Thanks! I'll post updated pics soon! My computer is fixed so I can pick it up soon :) The Siamese Sable has gotten darker but I read that's normal? The pink kit looks to be a sable point, it is an extremely clean color, a creamy body with blue/gray shading. Doesn't look anything like any sable kits I've had before but I'm assuming it's just a really clean coat? I know it's not a blue point but either way I'm very excited about this litter ^_^
