I am severely annoyed with "buyers". Well you can't really call them that if they cancel out last minute. Right now we are going through a trend with people interested in buying rabbits from us. They want more photos, information, ask you a million questions... for weeks. They definitely want to buy and set up the date exactly. Day before pick up? They cancel! If I sold a rabbit for every cancellation, I wouldn't have any rabbits left! I know this is part of being a breeder. I am happy to help with questions or provide more photos. But if they are not serious, they need not say they want to buy the rabbit. They shouldn't set up a date for pick up. I have even transported rabbits to a show for an interested buyer thinking he was actually serious. I had no idea he was going to leave the show and not even tell us he decided not to buy. It would have been nice to know he wasn't a serious buyer and was just looking to "browse"! Now I know why some would rather cull than bother with it. You learn something new everyday. Apparently the lesson here is for every 50 interested buyers, you are going to sell 1 rabbit.

This absolutely drives me insane, if you're not actually interested in the rabbit tell me straight up don't lead me on long enough I could have actually sold the rabbit 5 times already.

I had the same problem! I had people wanting pictures, asking questions, trying to work out transport and then, meh, they don't want it.
 So annoying :bonk:

I've only had this happen to me once, but the breeder didn't even tell me. I'd delete her from my facebook page, but I want to be reminded never to sell her one of my rabbits.

It's worse when breeders do it, you would think they would have the sense to not do it to someone else.

I know what you mean...it's ridiculous. I've had several people text/email about one rabbit and then suddenly they're no longer interested...why text me if you're just going to tell me how pretty it is, but that you don't want it? That's kind of annoying.

I usually am quite strict on my policies...but then I get the people that go, "Well, I want that rabbit, but I don't want to put a deposit down to hold it..." Um...okay? Good luck buying from any breeder. ;) And the funny thing was that that WAS a breeder who told me that...o.O

Now I have a 4-H friend (mother of some girls in my club) who wants a rabbit, and I'm holding him for her without a deposit...until September. I know the sale will go through as otherwise he'll be butchered and they just don't want that! So I'm kind of okay with holding him without a deposit.

The first time you got stood up or backed out on without a really valid excuse, you should have sold the rabbits to the next breeder on the list.

After that, you're really left with just a few choices:

1-Be straight up with the prosptective "breeder" and let them know that what they did offended you, and their place is presently on the waiting list's standby status

2- Continually tell the offending "breeder" that they're too late, and that you're already sold as many bunnies as your breeding program will allow at the current time.

3-Stop answering their calls, and screen their calls with the caller ID function which is on most phones nowadays

I know several on here likely view me as being cold, callous and cruel, but such is life. Anytime you put someone else on a pedistal, it leaves them in a perfect position to kick you right square in the teeth.
