I have said that I'm getting out of Netherlands but I don't know... I kind of like this buck. He is almost 3 months old, he weighs 2.5lbs and his ears measure 2 inches. I'm guessing he's going to turn into a BUB? I don't know if I want to keep him or not... I just can't decide!! What does everyone think type wise? Sorry if he is pose bad, I'm not an expert on posing Dwarfs :)

I think he is probably going through a gangly stage because his parts aren't bad, they are just awkwardly proportioned at this time.

I like his ears. They look to be a good length, thick, and well furred. I would like to see them a little bit more open at the base of the ear. They do look a touch long to balance at the moment, but they don't appear to be LONG ears, they are just not balancing at this age.

It would be nice to see a bit more development and mass to the head, but again, this will come with age. My friend raised ND for awhile and it seemed like her juniors all went through this phase with their heads, and they bulked up closer to 6 months of age.

The body looks great! Full, deep, and pretty uniform color for this age! His shoulder is looking like it may have some length from the picture, but I think that may also just be his front legs stretched so far out which can flatten the top of the shoulder. Pose him up again later with his toes right in line with his eyes, and see whether you still see that or if he rounds off a bit better.

That was a picky critique, but overall I think he would be one worth watching to see how he develops. He could be a total flop, that sometimes happens. :P But considering his age as well as current development, I think he has potential. :)

Here is a better picture of him. Since I'm not gasping for space, I think I may hang onto him for a little bit to see how he turns out.
Thank you Oak for your great comments! You helped a lot. :D But do you think he will get bigger? Or could he possibly be done growing?

I really like him! He's got a body. :bundance2: Netherland Dwarfs really do go through a rough stage. He probably won't get much bigger. His ears may grow a touch more, but very slightly. Since they're only 2 inches, his head should balance with them if he develops a nice size head. I would like to see them much more open though. My ND buck Clark has just a touch longer than 2 inch ears. Because his head is bigger, it balances out. I'd personally hold onto him for sure.

Thank you very much! I will hang onto him, even though I did say I wasn't going to do Netherlands anymore but it's really hard to get out of them when they are so cute! :wubz: I appreciate all the help! You guys are awesome :$

I don't raise ND, I just like to admire from afar. So I'm not sure how most tend to develop size-wise. But I would say you'll know by 4-5 months about how big he will get. Generally that's when my HL and JW are done growing, although they do continue to fill out more.

He is definitely going to grow more.. lol, and is going to be a bub. I have a buck that was 2 lbs at 3 months old, and he's now a few weeks under 6 months old and is going to end up being over weight (as in over the breed standard maximum weight) he's 2 lbs 8 oz (2.5 lb). He will probably end up maturing to be around 2 lbs 10 oz at adult weight. So your buck is going to be on the bigger side, wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being closer to 3 lbs or so once he's a senior. He seems like he has a decent body, I don't know how your line matures, so maybe his head will grow enough to balance those ears out, right now they look long and have bad placement.

If he does grow to be a BUB and if I still want to continue with Dwarfs looks like I will have to get a different doe. Everything I have got from her turned out to be BUB/BUD, but I thought since using a different buck that would help. I guess it didn't! I want to get away from the lines that my current doe has, she seems to be my problem.
