First off, I think when a rant, or rave, or basically anything in general that is posted on this site should be open to critiques, comments, feelings, thoughts, etc. Please, as a mature human being, take it as constructive criticism, and just move on. No need to start a fight just because someone, or a couple of people, went against your views.

That being said, if you are one of those people with a critique, comment, feeling, thought, etc. PLEASE try to do it in a respectful, and NICE way. I do think "This isn't supposed to sound so mean", or "Please don't take this the wrong way" is a good way to start a topic like that off, it it's sincere.

Also, from now on, if any member has a request to remove a topic or post, please PM Myself, fuzzypatch, the Administrator, ONLY. Do not as a mod, as ME. If it is a double/triple post, then the mod or myself will see it, and take care of it. If it is a topic/ post that "hurts your feelings", talk to me first, I will handle it.

Thank you, I hope you understand.

This is my personal views on the issue. A forum is a public place full of people who are all different from each other and have their own views. However one thing I have noticed on other forums is topics get deleted for the simple reason that someone took something to heart, was slightly offended and asked for the topic to be deleted. I do not know how many times I have heard the story "on X board if you say this the topic will be deleted." or "On x board if you don't agree with so and so the topic will get deleted." and so on and so forth. This is one of the main reasons we do not delete topics for simple disagreements between users, we value everyone's opinion here.

A topic will be deleted if it's spam, extremely vulgar, racist, or any other highly controversial topic that can be viewed in a highly negative way and reflect poorly on the forum.

On this forum we believe everyone is entitled to their opinions as long as you can keep it civil, you're aloud to disagree, but be polite about it. If you post on an open forum such as this you have to be aware that not everyone may share the same opinions or views as yourself. There is no point in getting bent all out of shape about someone who disagrees with; or does not see eye to eye with you. They're simply just stating their opinion just as you stated your opinion. If you do not want an honest opinion about something don't post it's that simple. You also have to remember up to 80% of communication involves body language and toning. Reading something on a page you do not always read it the way it was intended to be read by the writer, which is just one more thing you have to take into consideration.

Another thing, with the critiques I've received several messages about certain critiques being overly harsh and not very helpful. One thing you have to be aware of to start is that there is a nice way to say everything. When someone asks for a critique, don't just say "That rabbit is terrible" tell them where the rabbit needs to be improved, and always find at least one thing positive to say. You should also take into consideration geographical location, and available funds. The quality of rabbits where you are located may not be the same as the quality of rabbits where the original posted is located, same as the money issue. Some people may be able to drop $200 on a rabbit some have to make do with $30 rabbits. So telling someone the rabbit they have is terrible and they should go spend $200 on a new one may not always be possible, and they have to work with the quality available to them.

I agree. I think that part of the reason why RH got so popular is that the speech was pretty free. When mods get too touchy, it ultimately drives away more people than the "offensive" topics do, I think.

Thanks for your work here, guys. :)

It was a hard decision, trust me. On one hand, I want to protect our members, and don't want anyone to get hurt, but there comes a point where closing/deleting a topic isn't the best way. This isn't the first time this has happened. It's hard to leave a topic up that hurt someone, but in fairness to everyone else, if there wasn't a direct reason, I have to leave it up. Every one is entitled to freedom of speech, and I wont silence anyone until it reached the limit of vulgarity, racism, etc.

I think with any sort of argument, there should be a point where the member's involved should stop, reread the comments, and think "maybe this is going too far", and try to make peace, and continue of on in a friendly manner. A lot of us know each other in real life, and I would hate for a rumor, or dislike to happen over something on the internet.

I agree... and Devon really wrote it out nicely. I want to add too about the critiques.. Having a picture and having the animal in front of you are 2 different things. While we can all give opinions on a pic finding a breeder who knows what to look for and you learning the animal is the best way..but you only learn by asking questions. I ask zillions because I'm terrible with body type. BUT you can only see so much in a pic, and if the animal is not cooperating it is EXTREMELY difficult to photograph by yourself.

Just keep that in mind as well

Also, I want to point out, that if you think a mod, or myself, is out of line EVER, anything, and I mean anything, please either come to the mod directly, or choose another mod to discuss it with. We wont ignore it, we will talk about it, and deal with it. Just because we're "incharge" doesn't mean we are going to abuse power. Please, feel comfortable talking to us, an express your opinion about the way we handle things. Report us if you feel that it is necessary. Mods can be warned, even myself.
