One of my rabbits won a Best of Variety at my last show. I and all the other competitors there witnessed the judge stating this about my rabbit. I even got a pat on the back. Yet, I was just sent the show report today and her title is not there! It shows that she didn't get anything when I know for a fact she did. Is there any way I can go about correcting this error? What should I do? Thanks! |

I would call or e-mail the show secretary, one of mine had the wrong ear # on his leg, and they got it fixed. |

I would contact the secretary also. The writer may have messed up. I had that happen at the last show, almost didn't get the leg on my rabbit! She put two bucks as BOB and BOS I had the doe that won BOS.What place did she get? You may have an issue getting it fixed. Some show writers wont admit they messed up, or just wont remember. |

Hi This is a major reson why people should leave the writers alone and back off the tables where they are writing. It's hard enough to get most things down the judge is saying much less with people talking to you and trying to yuck it up with complete disrespect that you are trying to help at the shows. Writers are volunteers who shouldn't be bothered when writing. Hope you can get it fixed. Sorry to hear:) Angela |

Since I have angoras and I always end up writing the remarks and placings down for the judge I always double check what I write. For those shows that I do not write at for the judge I write down my own placings and remarks. I carry a little note book with the following information on it: Show/Date/Judge/ Writer {I try really hard to get there name!} so I can thank them latter on for writing or if there is any confusion on the show reports later on. Number of rabbits in the class/Number of Exhibitors/Placings/Remarks on individual rabbits. At the end of the show before I leave for the day I always get permission form the show secretary to see the breed folders so I can check my placements with what I wrote down to make sure they are correct. I do wish shows secretary's and superintendents would mandate that writers at the table can only do remark cards or the Control sheet not both for those who are not experienced with doing both at the same time! It really is hard to do both at the same time and not miss anything. Plus If I miss something, I don't have a problem stopping the judge to repeat them selves. After all it's not my fault they talk so low and so fast Hope the show secretary can get this fixed for you. |

I was just going to start a similar thread. We have had a load of MR misplaced since last fall. I am now convinced that in our case it is intentional. In North Carolina at a show the judge repeated broken sr. buck BOS three times and the writer heard it and still wrote it down wrong. We checked to make sure that there were 3 exhibitors for the 7 castors. Judge and writer confirmed there were. Show report comes back as 6 by 2. Emailed and called them and they said one was scratched. It was on the table !! They said sorry about your luck. Prove it. Just got a specialty report back from Pasrba and two 4th places are 6th and 8th.(They were both second in the first show). We write everything down. And I know Maya was tickled because none of her rabbits went below 4th at PaSRBA. I've got a funny feeling these were the comment cards we couldn't find at the table. I will put money on it that I know who owns the rabbits that officially have the 4th place spots. We are going to have to do what Melissa said and ask to check the control sheets. I don't want to seem like a whiner but I don't know what else to do. Every time one particular mother/daughter write Maya's rabbits are placed wrong. I watched the daughter scratch a class of 11 to 6. I didn't realize what she was doing until we got the show report. She scratched all her and a friends rabbits that went at the bottom of the class. The last show we were at together they scratched the jr. buck class down to two exhibitors in show B to keep Maya from getting a leg. Maya had 1,2,3, and 5 in the class in both shows. I guess we are supposed to ask their permission to have good rabbits. I guess she's embarrassed to get her but kicked by an 11 year old that's been doing them 1.5 years. She's been doing them 15 years. I've come to realize there are some trifling people in this. We were told there was a discussion that got locked on a forum that was basically about Maya "messing every bodies points and legs up". We were flat out told by a breeder they don't care how they win as long as they win.Sorry about the rant, I'm just foul after three messed up show reports in one week. Woops, wife just walked in with the 4th messed up report. They have one of Maya's rabbits dq'ed. They switched writers in the show and I can't remember who was writing at that point. That is four of eight shows with rabbits placed wrong. I agree Melissa that doing control sheets and cards at the same time is very hard. I would have to follow Rob Frizzell around to hear him (I'm hard of hearing) . And Wade Burkhalter would be like writing for an auctioneer. My wife tried to write for him on ML (classes of 15-30) at PaSRBA. She was so frazzled afterwards. To top it off the biggest entry had been entered in open on accident. |

Just contact the show secretary, I am sure they would be happy to look into it for you. Just don't wait too long. I keep the paper work easy to access until the next show (the club I secretary for has 2 small shows and 1 larger show a year). However, I prefer to be contacted promptly... had someone wait 7 months one time and then realized that the ear number was wrong (which they had failed to change on the control sheet). |

Is there any possible way you can have someone you trust to stand behind the writer to see what they are doing? All they have to do is say "no, ____ is BOV" WHILE judging is going on. What is the writer going to say? Everyone is watching them, even the judge. They have no choice but to correct their "mistake". If they know someone is watching them, they'll eventually stop. If you have to, take a picture of it after the show to make sure nothing gets tampered with after you leave, and if it does you have proof. If it keeps happening, write to ARBA. It's not fair for anyone to be robbed of their legs. Don't worry about seeming like a whiner, or a tattle tale. These people are far more immature than you ever can be in this situation! I am so glad that we have respectable breeders on this forum. I can't think of anyone I would never want to show with. |

The person that handled the MR control sheets for the dq'ed rabbit called me almost immediately yesterday. Very respectable polite conversation. I think that was an honest mistake. The person writing in that show is not one of "those" people.Very respectable breeder. I hadn't realized until on the phone that Maya's 2nd and 3rd place bucks were backwards also. This was a judge that talks and moves FAST. The person that called very politely told me that Maya shouldn't have won bov and bosv in show A and that the younger less experienced judge in show B is much more knowledgeable than the judge with 35 years experience with compacts ( and spent a good 5 minutes trying to justify the statement ). I got the impression that he wasn't welcome back because he didn't judge the way they wanted him to. They also readily volunteered that there are people in the area that will switch rabbits places to be vindictive and that you really have to watch them. It was an interesting conversation (to say the least) with me listening mostly. Fuzzy, I was just saying to my wife maybe we need to take a picture of the control sheet. Funny thing is someone we trust was standing there, but Maya beating a top 5 open Nats. sr. castor buck with a sr. doe and a jr. buck evidently caused some commotion because the table was crowded in B. And they forgot to watch the writing. They do know for a fact #5 wasn't dq'ed though. The person that was watching for us told me today that evidently these people believe Maya doesn't deserve to win anything. She hasn't been doing it long enough. You are supposed to come around with junk, buy a bunch of junk from them if they will sell you anything, then when they think it's ok you can get decent stock to work with. They really don't like it when people go around them to get started with decent stock. In a couple years they will accept us. Sorry, you don't treat me like doo doo for two years then try to be my friend. I've been out of high school over 20 years. There is one lady up here that it took 5 years to get her first BOB. None of these people have ever tried to teach her anything. She told me she's learned more from us in a few shows than she has in 5 years from her own club. |

That's where I disagree. I don't think just because someone doesn't have experience means they don't deserve to win. If you know what you're doing, or have a lot of luck, then why shouldn't they deserve to win? As long as the person doesn't cheat to win, then they deserve it.
These people should find another hobby. If they are this catty, and this childish, they need to do something else. So what if you buy from someone else? Get over it! You do not need to be accepted by ANYONE. If they start to hate you, good. That means you're beating them, and are on the right track! Make them jealous. This is just a hobby with rabbits, living things, I don't understand why people are so petty and vindictive with it. |

I think it actually bothers me more than her. The whole being protective of your kids thing. Every once in a while she will say something like " I don't understand why these people are so nasty, the mini lop people aren't like that" Fuzzy, we don't really care if they hate us.That has become quite apparent, with some of the remarks we have heard. It gives us and some other people something to laugh about. A few old time breeders in other breeds think it's hilarious. Not the cheating, the hating. I don't understand the petty stuff either. There isn't any money in it for most of us. |

Be sure you're checking all your show reports (i.e., Shows A, B, C, etc.). If indeed it's still not there, get in touch with the show secretary. |

Well it's interesting because the writer also had about 20 rabbits entered in the show herself along with mine and some other breeders. And guess who's rabbit got the BOV for blue? The BOV I should have gotten? The writer's blue rabbit got BOV and mine got nothing. |

people really shouldn't be allowed to write for a class they (or their kids) have rabbits entered in. I know shows are always short writers, but seriously, that's a conflict of interest. |
