I will have to admit I am nervous  about showing Lionheads that were born & raised here at Gentle Lions Rabbitry. I am trying to go into this with realistic expectations. I am sure I'd be disappointed if they all came in last place & the judge had really negative comments :downthumb: about them as I think I am beginning to raise some nice Lionheads. I know my line tends to have longer ears, but they are within breed standard. I'd like to see thicker manes on a lot of them, but they are not the worst I have seen around here.

Micah will take his Giant Chinchilla buck. Maybe he will find a nice doe for sale to bring home. He will show his Lionheads & Cathryn will show her Chestnut Doe Lionhead.

We are making a list of equipment & supplies to take with us. The van is almost ready to stow the back seats so the buns can be loaded. Not all of our travel cages are the usual carrier cages, but all have solid drop trays attached under the wire to contain bunny poos & pees and keep the buns from getting dirty.

Questions, do we need to take our ARBA member cards? Are 2 digits enough for ear tattoos? How early before the show should we arrive?

The only time you will need your member card at a show is if you are registering a rabbit. You don't even need to be a member of anything to show.

1 digit is ok for a tattoo, as well as more. Some people have had complete names in their ears. I've even seen STUPID as a tattoo.

It's smart to arrive a little bit before the show starts. How early is up to you. You need to check in. I usually like to be there an hour before the show starts, but I've seen people arrive a lot later and still check in.

Is it a day of entry show?

Yes, it is a day entry show. I guess it would be called a triple show, 1 show Fri evening & 2 shows on Sat.

I have never been to a show where I enter that day.

Have a lot of fun and let us know how it goes! Do you have a copy of the show flyer? It should tell you when entries close. You need to be there by then, though the show may not actually start for another hour...or more... after that. If you haven't shown before, let me warn you, since LH's aren't recognized they're likely to get the short end of the stick in terms of time slots. Unless there are a ton of LH entries, I'd expect to be there till near the end of the show, waiting for a spot on the table. :/

I figured LHs would be toward the end along with any other nonrecognized breed. I expect Giant Chins to be as well since they are not very popular. I know of only 2-3 GC breeders in the state. Of course my Sr buck LH went into a heavy molt, so bad he is staying home. My blue otter LH doe with the short ears died yesterday due to the heat. My son & I have been working with his NZ/FG doe to get her GI track working again tonight. Pet Lac finally did it. Not sure, but think she isn't handling the heat well. She stopped eating & drinking and was passing only clear mucous in her stools. The mucous is turning brown & she is passing some soft pellets.

I am thinking we need the fold out lounge chair & regular folding chairs, sm fan & extention cord along with buns & their supplies. I have the ARBA entry forms so we can have them filled out when we arrive. We can ck into the Quality Inn on the way to the fair barn so all we have to do in go to the room when we finish tomorrow night.

How do you secure your rabbits when they stay at the barn overnight?
