We came out with 12 BOV, 5 BOB & 1 BOSB out of this weekends triple show. Cotton, my REW Lionhead won 2 BOB & BOSB. Micah had the only Giant Chinchilla. He is trying out how to pack 10 G. Chins with the Lionheads so he can earn legs if he is going to be the only one showing this breed. Maybe there will be more at the next show in 2 weeks. |

Yes, it feels good. I would have liked to have more Lionheads there, but still glad to have come out as good as I did. The sad thing is one breeder lost 3 rabbits to heat from the drive up to the show. He just went back home. I can understand, it was really hot even with the fans running in the barn. I was putting ice in the cages & in water bottles. |

Yesterday was our 2nd show at the Oklahoma State Fair in OKC. We did well again except my Sr Lionheads were DQ. Pointed White Sr Doe still had wool on hind quarters & did not have color on her nails (I didn't realize that was a DQ). Sable Martin Sr Buck, still going through a major molt, but not good enough at the break as he still has short wool there. Open - Cotton, REW Jr Buck, won BOSB. I found out the difference in Otter & Silver Martin, Silver Martin has no tan & more white along the belly-flank line. Micah's Silver Martin Jr Doe, 12 weeks old squeezing in at 1lb 10oz, won BOV, even better the judge really liked her all around type, mane, ect. Just needs to mature. I found out the difference in Gold Tipped Steel & Chestnut as a friend's buck was DQ'd since that color doesn't have a COD. Micah & Cat won BOV in their Lionhead classes. Roadrunner, Tort Jr Buck won BOB & Herra, REW Jr Doe, won BOSB. Chippy, Jr Chestnut Doe won BOV. Micah won BOB with Kor, Giant Chin 6/8 Buck. My parent made it back to OKC in time (saving an extra trip for one of us) to drop off Micah's G. Chin Doe, 12 weeks old. She is a pretty & looks to have strengths in Kor's weaknesses. Time will tell. Cathryn came home with a (barely) Sr Tort Holland Lop Buck, so now she has a breeding pair that are only a couple months apart in age. Her Doe is a Broken Tort. Now we have 6 weeks to get the buns in condition for nationals. |

I was invited by another breeder to go with her to Cleburne, Tx for a Triple Show. She usually takes BOB with her Sr Chestnut Doe Lionhead & I take BOSB with Cotton. That happened at 2 of the shows, but the first show of Sat morning was the best. We had the most competition & Cotton won BOB . The judge picked him over a Blue Bonnet Lionhead (well known breeder in Texas). ![]() Kor was the only Giant Chin so he came back with 3 more BOBs. The judges were happy to see a G. Chin on the table again. Kor was in the middle of a major molt & loosing condition because of the heat. Cat's Sr. Tort Holland Lop (Solid) was 6th of 8, 9th of 16 and 3rd of 14. He must be a morning buck as that was when he placed 3rd. |
