Black Otter and Opal mix, and I get a Chocolate lol. Oh my rabbits confuse me.

There was also something light colored in there. Not a REW, not that light. It died, so we may never know. Spencer wants to breed them again to see what that was (because my luck totally gives me what I want lol).

blue looks like otter -- but could still develop banding as the fur grows out and turn opal.
at the moment, the white is still really white -- so silver marten or blue chin (aka squirrel) are possible. watch the nape -- the tan coloring will show there first. Any chin/marten in the background of either parent?

definitely chocolate. lighter nape, inside ears and tummy say possible chocolate otter or chocolate agouti. Incidentally, this means both your parents are chocolate carriers.

With a chocolate and a blue in the litter, high probability that the 'light' baby you lost was lilac.

Post pictures again when they get a little older!

If you're hoping for the light color, maybe you'll get all chestnuts. =P

I don't think it's an opal. I've had Opals, and this one it too blue to be one. I also think we nipped the chin gene in the bud a while ago, so I doubt I got that lucky lol, but who knows, really? I'm sure you're familiar with my genetic luck by now lol.

There is some Sable Marten on the mother's side.

I did have a chocolate otter in the last litter of these two, and I don't think it's an otter. It was really obvious in the short days it lived (peanut).

Lilac, interesting! I actually have a picture of it here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=475309012508268&set=a.202956833076822.50105.143623345676838&type=1&theater

I'm wondering if it was a REW.... But it didn't look that pink when I held it for the first time.

Wouldn't that be nice!!! I wonder if the 3 strikes rule applies to rabbits, and I'll get all unshowables.

Yeah, it looks regular chocolate to me. I have blacks right now and they do have slightly lighter bellies and they always have a bit of a lighter nape for the first little while. I don't see any lacing on the eyes, ears, or legs either.

Ok, DENY. Blue Otter now looks like it may be an Opal =) They're still chubby little things.

Sorry to bump an old one, but yeah - as you probably know by now, that's a solid choc, not an otter.
