So my bunny is due in two days. She feels a bit heavier. She is acting pregnant like the last time (grumpy and lots of noisy grumbling). When she is not pregnant she never behaves this way. I did not witness the breeding but I know that a few days after the breeding she no longer tried to get to my male and ignored him. Usually she circles his play yard and tries to get to him incessantly. I remember that with her first litter she didn't look pregnant at all but felt much heavier. She is a very small bunny but had 5 kits. She does not look pregnant at all. I have gently pressed up on her belly and I don't feel any fullness. By now the kits would be too crowded to feel individuals right? I just wonder about her reabsorbing kits. Is that a common occurrence or pretty unusual? Can a small bunny hide a pregnancy this well? Maybe a very small litter? Should her tummy feel firm by now? |

I'd just let her wait out the next couple of days. Won't hurt anything, it's a couple of days and that would answer all your questions. ![]() Some buns you can't feel the kits well at all. I've had buns completely surprise me with kits and others that I was SURE were preggers weren't. (how annoying THAT is). Just wait it out, and she'll let you know. ![]() |

Well its a real pregnancy I believe. Cake just started building her nest a few minutes ago! Last time she did this she had babies within the hour! She looks sooo cute with the giant mouthfuls of grass! I am kind of surprised that this is happening already. Last time she kindled on day 31. Today is only day 28 and I JUST gave her the nest box this evening. |

So here it is day 31 and no kits. I still find myself wondering if this is a false pregnancy because she isn't any bigger at all than she was before she was pregnant. She doesn't feel any heavier at all either. Just having my male attempt to mate with her could have triggered it I guess but from what I read with a false the doe will generally start nesting early (like day 14) whereas Cake nested on 28. She is also grooming like mad but not pulling fur. I brought my male outside of her cage today to see how she would react. She grunted at him loudly. He snorted in response and hid his head under my hair. He is a gentle soul. She sure thinks she is pregnant but I am just not so sure. I am not the patient type. Besides I hate keeping her caged up. |
