Smoke Pearl Marten Mini Rex???

I had this odd color show up in my Mini Rex litter and I was very excited because I thought it (she) was a lilac silver marten. But after a while, she started to get shading.

I think she's a smoke pearl marten, but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

Her parents are a blue otter and a lilac otter (the lilac otter has some weird stuff in her pedigree, I'll have to dig it up), and her siblings are blue and lilac otters. There was another one in the litter that looked just like her, but he died.

You'll have to go to my website to see pictures because my pic file size was too large to upload (that's what I get for forgetting to change my setting on the camera :wall:

She's Santa Maria (which is the 2 & 3 picture under Abilene and London's litter)

I would say that she's smoke pearl marten.. she's beautiful, too. :wubz:

Is Pinta shaded too or is that just the pics/my bad eyes?

Just bad pics. They wouldn't stay still :-/

What's the genotype of a smoke pearl marten?

Thanks, I think she's beautiful too, and she's very sweet. :$
I'd really like to keep her but I don't have the cage space to spare if I can't breed her to someone in the barn and get recognized varieties.

smoke pearl marten

at-B-chl-ddE-

the shaded gene (chl) is recessive to full color but dominant over pointed (ch) and rew (cc) -- so if she is a smoke pearl marten then one parent is carrying chl and the other either ch or c.

-- while not showable itself, she could be bred to a number of different colors for showable babies. Honestly easier to get a recognized color from her than to get another smoke pearl marten (too many recessive that will hide and the shadeds never throw more than half shadeds best case scenario when trying for them). Can breed back to an otter pattern for mostly otter babies -- you only get more shaded martens if the parent carries ch or c. Can also breed to a silver marten to get mostly silver martens (the chd will hide chl). I think smoke pearl itself (the self not the marten) is recently accepted in minirex - breed to a blue for high odds of that.
