Spent yesterday at the MI State 4H show. Congrats to anyone here who did well...

While we had a great day with the cavies (see my post in the cavy section) can't say the same for our bunnies. The kids talked me into letting them enter a total of 15 rabbits (the most we've brought to any show -- had to borrow carriers). Only 1 first -- and that was a 1 of 1 (tort senior buck). Some unexpected DQs, and a number that didn't do nearly as well as anticipated. But we all had fun.

Despite placing last in all 4 classes - Jillian was really happy with her JW comments - all really excellent on body type. Her junior decided to blow her baby coat that morning - fluffy mess on the bottom and short coat on top. Her bred doe was in awesome condition but went overweight (not a doe that normally skirts the max weight line). She's actually more excited than disappointed by that one -- the mom to that doe had a litter of 6 without looking pregnant at all -- 2 weeks along and this one is round and solid - Jillian is thinking a big litter is on the way.

Josh's blue buck was Dq'ed for mismatched toenails. That one was a shock. This is an awesome little buck that he's taken to every show and has always done well. I'd swear the nails were all fine when we trimmed them two weeks ago. But three nails are now very white. Could the cold (frostbite?) have done it? The toes seem fine other than the white nails. If so, will they recover?
