I bred a friends sld sp ND doe to my sld black ND buck. I have no bkn bucks and neither does she, however the doe had 2 sld SPs and 2 bkn blacks. I thats supposed to be impossible so how did it happen?

sp = sable point? or smoke pearl?

Do you have the pedigrees and if so, is there a broken behind one of the parents?

Entirely possible for sable point (especially a lightly colored sable point) to 'hide' broken.

Rare, but possible for a genetic broken to be heavily colored to the point that it appears solid.

She is deffinately a sp. Her tint is to brownish to be a pearl. She is a pretty dark one. I'm going to have to look at her again. Your right she has to be a bkn. She must be a lightly marked one. I had forgot they can be so lightly marked that its hard to see

Especially since some NDs have strange broken markings.. if you have pics of her, we may be able to help. :)

I agree, some ND really do hide things.....do you have their genotypes? Gotta say......modifiers and other mysterious goings on. Wait till you see my silver NDs.

so the owner of the doe sent me pictures of her via cell phone. she must be bkn. I remembered wrong and thought she was dark in color but she is actually light so she could easily be a bkn that's markings are too light to see. I'm glad I'm not going crazy or that genetic rules still apply LOL
