Ok so I rebred my doe Sabrina. I palpated her today and again seems like only one kit "maybe" two. She just had a litter of only 1 kit that was bigger than a normal newborn and had light fur, it was DOA. So my question is, is their anything I could possibly do to help her deliver this kit this go around? I've read tums and parsley help jump start contractions and help pass kits. Would it be ok to give her some on day 29 or 30? I figure if she's not ready to have them then nothing will happen and no harm done? I want to let her do what she needs to do but if I can do anything to help I'm all for it. She's a very compact show holland doe and people are correct when they say the showy type does are hard to breed!

Today was day 14 and for sure only one kit in there. Going to monitor her food, no treats, watch how big the kit gets. Probably not a lot I can really do but make sure I don't over feed her. Will still give her parsley on day 29, then again day 30 and 31. I hope to have one live kit from her then move her along. I have a foster mom ready. Here's hoping the kit will be born alive and healthy!

Oh no, very stressful! Sounds like you're all ready planning on what I would do. Keep her food the same and keep a really close eye on her. Might help to let her get a little more exercise, too. Tums a bit early along with the parsley is a good idea... you can try lavender, too.

Yeah tums as well, I'll give her one on day 30 and 31, don't want to give her too much calcium. She's 2 1/2 weeks pregnant, almost 3 weeks and so far she's keeping good weight on herself on reduced feed and kit seems to be growing to. I'll be keeping a close eye on kit's growth during the 3rd week but for now everyone is nice and healthy!

Today is nestbox day. I can feel one little busy kit in her, it kicks a lot lol it doesn't feel nearly as big as the last one so hopefully its a normal kit and not a peanut! I'll give her parsley tomorrow night and a tums Monday, she is due this Tuesday! I also have a foster mom ready to take on her kit if we get that far!

No sooner did I just post my response I went to check on her and low and behold a kit on the wire alive and healthy! A bit bruised up bu alive! She didn't for some reason pull any fur so I'm trying to get a hold of my friend whom has a foster mom on stand by...

Update!
Got kit to my friend tonight and all tucked in with it's foster family of Netherland dwarfs! It looks healthy other than bruised back legs and mouth, now only time will tell. I really can't say if she had it before I gave her parsley or after. However, even being on the wire, it did have a round tummy. Tonight I checked on Sabrina and she was looking around the spot her kit was. Palpated her and no more kits, can't figure out why she didn't pull fur when she did with the last one ? If her kit lives and is good quality I'm going to move Sabrina along. She's easy to breed but litter sizes are small and is hit and miss if she cares for it. However, it is her 2nd litter only so maybe 3rd time is the charm.

I didn't get any pics of the kit, its a light gray color but no clue if solid or broken yet. My friend will update me daily so I'll update you guys!

Story just keeps getting better! First, her kit is doing well with it's foster family and bruising is fading. However, went to feed Sabrina this morning and saw she pulled fur in her box... to my surprise and amazement she had TWO more kits and none are peanuts! They are fat and healthy to! So I'll be getting Sabrina's first kit back today or tomorrow and reunite it with it's family! I'll take pictures once I get all 3 together! Sabrina hides her babies gooood in her lol happy I listened to my cautious side and kept the box in!

Ok here are pictures of the two born today, I'll get pics of the other one when I get it back home!

Of course I can't tell yet, too early, if solid or broken but first thing I've noticed is their skin tone is much much lighter than I've ever had before (in person they are a light blue/gray). All my newborn tort kits where really dark right out the shoot (lol) but these guys are different. I sure hope sables, blue tort, rew or pointed white (himi). I'm excited as depending on these guys color, it'll tell me what Sabrina's hidden C gene is! :-D :bundance2: :bundance2: :woot:

No kidding huh?! Well one of the kits is a broken and its an extremely light blue grey with no brown saddle. . Possible sable? I got my other kit back today and its the exact same color but looking like a solid! The other I only quickly looked at but I'm thinking solid tort (not sure if blue or black yet). I'll get pics up soon of tge happy little family!

ok! Two of the kits I have never seen this color before! I know I have one broken black tort but the other two I'm wondering if blue tort or sable? However, I don't see any light tan or brown shading like would see in a tort! hehehehe I'm excited!

Two lighter ones:

Ooo how funny! Yes I posted on there, love that group :D if you don't mind me asking, what's your name on there (of course you don't have to answer if you wish not to)? :)

I do have a question, checked on kits this morning and they all had round tummies so I know she's nursing them. My question is, with my other does kits, they all had fuller tummies than these kits, so as long as they are getting something then they should be ok? I did check Sabrina and she is producing milk. I had her while pregnant on reduce feed but now I've got her on full feed and been giving her dandelion and black berry leaves (was told they help with milk production). She's been drinking water but not as much as I see with my other lactating does (they drink tons of water). Sabrina has a healthy weight to.

Well, how round are they? As long as they are quite full every day, it should be fine. A lot of my does will nurse the babies until they are like little ping pong ball tummies and some only get about half that amount, as long as the babies are healthy themselves they do fine in either case.

My name is Asia, I commented on one of the pics that you posted there. ^_^

Ooo ok yes, I saw your comment! They for sure not ping pong balls but I'ld say half or 40% of that.. they act more hunger then my others, bob their little heads like crazy. However I did notice Sabrina is drinking a lot more water so I'm hoping her milk supply goes up. I'm thinking of giving them more nursing time on her until she can feed them better?
