I had a rabbit that kindled and had seven bunnies and got two stuck inside of her and she died so now I have seven bunnies to raise. I have a rabbit milk replacement recipe ( I think I got it from someone on here ) but a while back when I tried raising some bunnies that the mother wouldn't take care of, whenever they would nurse out of the bottle they would always get it up there nose and I lost the whole litter, the bottle I'm using is also a bottle meant for rabbits, if anyone could give me some tips or help I would greatly appreciate it.

Do you know of anyone that you could foster to? Maybe another breeder that you trust? I can't think of anything else other than what you've done.

I'm sorry that this has happened =(

I don't have any other mothers to foster them off to and the nearest breeder is about 3 1/2 hours away I know there was someone on here a while back that raised a batch of orphaned rabbits but I can't remember who

I have had two bottle bunnies survive. The first one, I mixed up something I found online. She's lucky that she survived... the other two in her litter and one after that didn't live on that. I think she was just strong, then after I fed her spinach along with the milk she did better. She looks horrible until she was about 3 months old though, and was took forever to mature. I raised the most recent one on sheep milk replacer. It's powder that you mix up. I mixed it so it was very concentrated and I didn't have a problem with her. She was quite normal. I added some corn syrup because she wasn't a fan of the taste at first. I used a syringe to feed both babies and I wrapped them up in a small cloth or paper towel so I could very quickly wipe milk away if too much came out. I always just pushed out a drop or less at a time. If I had to do it again, I would put some thin fabric over the mouth of the syringe so they can suck easier and it doesn't come out as quickly. Check out this article on orphaned bunnies... I can never find spinach baby food but maybe you could blend some spinach into a mush. http://www.hlrsc.com/ Go to "HL info/articles" and then to "orphans and spinach babies" on the left. It doesn't let you link directly for some reason.

As often as I could... I don't remember exactly. Probably 3-4 times a day at first, then 2-3, then 1-2 as needed.

I really don't have any suggestions for you. You already got some great information on how to help those orphan bunnies. I only had one litter, which the doe was very successful for a first time Mom. Was nervous because the suggestions regarding breeding is that you should always breed two does so that if one doe does not do well you can foster to the other. I was very fortunate to pick a breed that is a EXCELLENT mom, and Luna proved it tenfold. Especially being a FIRST TIME Mom. It was like she did 100 times before.

Wishing you luck with your orphans. Hoping you update on the progress.

I did breed two rabbits the problem is that the other mom has 9 bunnies, right now I am trying a recipe that someone on here gave me ( I can't remember there name) but it has black strap molasses, condensed milk, kefir, goats milk and pumpkin and whoever it was said they raised a batch of bunnies successfully , I am thinking about maybe adding some spinach after seeing what sidd says posted, Thanks for all the input everyone !!!!

ok so I fed them with the recipe that sidd says posted about in that link some of the bunnies started sucking really well but others didn't want to suck at all so I just fed them one drop at a time, I'd say total they drank about 10ml, how much should they eat a day ?
Thanks

Update: one of the bunnies died it was one that was weak from the start, the other bunnies I think are starting to learn how to suck off of the bottle, at first a couple of them got milk up there noise but I think I am learning as well as the bunnies, does anyone know how much one bunny is supposed to eat a day?
Thanks for the help

No idea how much they should eat. I always just gave them as much as I could get them to eat.

varies too much by individual to give an amount. But you want the tummies to be nice and round after each feeding.

So sorry to hear you lost one, but if you say it was weaker, maybe it was for the best.

Have to agree with Neubunny, varies with individual bunnies. Just look for those round bellies. I had one kit that was a bit weaker and Luna would feed the kits twice a day. For the first couple days of the kits life, I would take the smallest, and flip Luna, stimulate milk and let the littlest one have at it. It worked. Tonks is 9 months old now and ornery. Just love her.

Wishing you all the best with the Orphans. Please keep us posted on how they do.

it is better to underfeed than to overfeed.

as long as they don't have wrinkly or overly taut skin you are doing well. :)

So true athomepets. I saw pics of an overfed kits. Can actually have a lethal result if overfed. Definitely a good word of advise. Needs to be a good balance. Wishing you the best again for these orphans.
