Maybe giving the shot to the doe that fostered? I'm not too keen about the vaccine because I don't know a lot about it and it's really only in the testing phase. But it is something to think about as you are having this awful illness spread. But it is only a preventive not a cure, and can pop up again.

Let us know what you decide. Truly hope you can stop the spreading.

That is a very good idea. Has anyone had experience with the vaccine?
Also has anyone used Oxy-Gen or Immunize?

No experience on any of the medication mentioned.

Maybe you can find out about the vaccine here. Neubunny posted it on the thread called "Snuffles Vaccine". Mr. Bob Glass is doing the study on this vaccine.

"A nice page with Bob's answers to FAQ can be found here...http://madhatterrabbits.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/bunnyvac-bob-glass-qa.pdf"

Wish I could help more. Please let us know what you find out.

there's also a facebook group for folks who are trying the vaccine to share their experiences and ask questions (Bob Glass is on there and does most of the answering).

There's a fairly large contingent there trying it as a 'cure' rather than preventative (definite off-label). I was surprised to learn that there is a theory behind why that might work (as opposed to simple desperate hope). ... the idea is that Pastuerella is 'carried' in the deep sinuses of exposed rabbits - a section of the rabbit anatomy which has little blood flow and so the rabbit's immune system can't attack the bacteria effectively. But it isn't a hospitable environment for the bacteria either, so it just sort of lurks there until the rabbit is stressed and those dormant bacteria can 'reinfect' the rabbit. If a rabbit is immunized, those lurking bacteria won't be able to reinfect as easily - which means the disease won't recur.

The does are doing well. Still no runny noses or other symptoms. Still watching closely and contemplating the use of the vaccine.

Thanks so much for the update. Glad to hear all is well and no runny noses or other symptoms have occurred.

Would do the same as you are doing. Watch closely. If you do use the vaccine, would you let us know how it works for your herd?
