I'm not sure if this is where this belongs, so I'm sorry if I have this in the wrong section!

Last year I had an issue with my Holland lops dropping weight around this time...well they are doing it again! They all get a 1/2 cup split up into two feedings (am and evening) as well as hay and a teaspoon of oat meal (with the exception of free fed litters and mothers) Does anyone else notice this or it is just mine? What is reccomended to help with this? I have started giving them an extra 1/4 a cup in the afternoon, but so far that doesn't seem to be making a diffrence. :/

temperatures in the 40s -- weight loss, especially over the spine -- consider coccidia. Treat with sulmet - 1tsp of 12.5% diluted to 1 gallon replaces their drinking water. 10 days on 10 off, 10c on.

In the midst of the 10 days off here.

I'll give that a try, although they don't have cociddia I'm sure. Iv'e delt with that before. This is an every year around this time each year. They all go into crazy molts then lose weight.

Could it be a feed issue (maybe the feed is a little older around the Winter? not sure)? Usually rabbits that are in bad molts will lose some condition. Mine are almost done their horrific Fall molts and some had lost some condition... quite a few weren't eating as much too.

nice thing about sulmet is that it is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. Mild antibacterial, decent anthelmic (wormer) in addition to the coccidia (protozoan). But it could just be the molt too -- mine also lose some condition during a molt (angoras are the worst -- whether because more wool or just larger bunnies I'm not sure - I boost their protein or just feed a little extra - + papaya because I get paranoid it could be wool block).

I feed Pen Pals 16% and love in normally, so I don't think that's the issue since they were all fine until these fall molts. I suspect it's from their molts, it was the same thing last year. I'll just keep feeling them more until they regain condition. :) And I'll try the Sulmet to, just to rule that out. :) Thanks!
