Listening to the two young American leads, currently appearing in La Traviata at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, being interviewed on Front Row on Tuesday, and being described as "America's fastest-rising husband-and-wife opera stars" - Ailyn Perez and Stephen Costello, I was very excited to see this production - unfortunately it appears to be sold out as advised by Front Row - although there are a few tickets @ £195 per seat for Tuesday next 20th May...

Brilliant production! Brilliant cast! What a wonderful idea to broadcast live and free around the world!

I had 3 things I wanted to be do last night but could only do one - go to the Beeb for a recording by comedian Adam Riches; watch a one-off T20 at the Oval or go to Trafalgar Square's Big Screen live performance of this opera!

Gave the Beeb recording a miss, watched the cricket on SS2 and after it ended, in the comfort of my own home, my own sofa, I was in plenty of time for Traviata's Act III...the final scene. However, after the finale, I found I could take the cursor back to the beginning thus watching the entire opera through to the end, without all those interruptions of 20 minute intervals with presenters were chuntering on about this and that. Perfect!

Next on Big Screen, La Boheme starring Romainian diva soprano Angela Gheorghiu and Italian tenor hearthrob Vittorio Grigolo, on 15th July followed by Rigoletto on 17th September...
