The trouble is you aren't used to coalition governments yet. Here in NZ we have got to grips with them, after the same worries mentioned here about the tail wagging the dog etc. What happens in practice is that the smaller party can't carry out their promises and loses support (witness your Lib Dem party). They don't always disappear but they always seem to piss off their voters and lose seats. The ones who have stayed around are the Greens who have never joined the government (partly because they aren't invited to) and NZ First who have a feisty old leader who knows how to work any system and has a loyal set of followers. Anyway the first sentence I saw said you would have to give up your Premier League for curling. What could be better? My husband wouldn't steal my computer every Sunday and you wouldn't have to pay the players exorbitant sums. We heard today that someone (a West Ham player?) had been bought for 2 million pounds and was now worth 26 millions. But actually two million pounds is about ten times more than our PM is paid. Something is out of kilter (if not out of kilt). |
