I have really enjoyed listening to this fast-paced, atmospheric police detective series about Alia Khan, a female police officer trying to solve a series of crimes; entitled 'Undercover Mumbai" it's written by Ayeesha Menon and directed by John Dryden. Actress Prerna Chawla plays Alia Khan. It was filmed on location and first broadcast on R4 in September 2013 in the weekly 15 minute drama slot, culminating in an hour long Saturday drama. 9th-13th September 2013: The first five fifteen minute episodes were 1. Gutter Baby, 2. What's Cooking, 3. Body of Christ, 4. Mad Woman, 5. Five-Star Death... Omnibus edition (l hr 15minutes) is still available to listen here...but only for the next 3 days... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03b2nlv The series concluded with a climatic hour long episode called One Last Sacrifice on Saturday 14th September 2013, available for the next 4 days... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b039yp0r 18th-19th August 2015: The second series of this crime drama carried on from One Last Sacrifice and deals with the consequences of that episode taking Alia Khan on a different journey as a receptionist in a run-down Mumbai hotel...but murder soon comes knocking at her door. In two 45 minute episodes, it is available to listen on i-player for 5/6 more days... 5 days to listen ... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b065vqd2 6 days to listen ... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b065vsf1#play Both series were a Goldhawk Production for the BBC. Forgot to mention the music...it's totally compatible and exciting throughout both series..composed by 'Sacha' Puttnam, son of Sir David! Whilst looking at his website http://sachaputtnam.com/ I see that he has composed the music for a new ten part drama series commissioned for BBC Radio 4 from Goldhawk Productions, and found this reference on their website... "The BBC have just commissioned from Goldhawk an original 10 x 45 minutes drama series for Radio 4′s Afternoon Drama slot. The series, entitled TUMANBAY, is a fast-paced, bloody drama based loosely on the conflicts between the Ottoman Turks, the Persians and the Mamluks of Egypt in the 15th and 16th centuries. It is written by John Dryden and will be broadcast towards the end of 2015." Edited by Mobson, Sep 17 2015, 10:49 AM.
