The UK's exit from the EU?

The UK's vote on our European exit draws ever near,it may end up with a simple yes or no vote for all of us.
IMHO, I can't see any way that we can remain in the EU as politicians will ultimately make this a vote against unlimited European immigration which without major polices making drastic changes on the human rights laws and immigration regarding the UK will make these two issues alone an insurmountable mountain?

Nothing in Theresa May's c.v. persuades that she's any good at anything other than political manoeuvring.
Well at least that's one attribute! .....(in your opinion) <whistles>

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't that what politicians do?

Let's hope that she can manoeuvre us out of this mess

I'll forgive you this time, dai.

If David Cameron hadn't decided to indulge in political manoeuvering, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in.

I hear today that Andrea whatever her name is is in trouble for saying she, as a parent, would be better suited to governing than the childless Theresa May. I think the news item also said she said her comment had been misreported by a gutter press. Our former PM, Helen Clark, was often criticised for being childless (and that her 3o year marriage was a sham, just because at the time she hadn't wanted to marry, but did so for political reasons: she was a 60s child, after all and happy to just live with her husband), but I don't see that he successor, John Key, though with children, has any more empathy for those struggling than she did. Less, I think.

Hard though it is to believe, Margaret Thatcher had 2 children.

The hopelessly inexperienced Leadsom is trying to give herself an edge over TM. She was accurately reported and has made herself look even more stupid by complaining about it.

I despair for all of us. Brexit was the catalyst for fracturing the fault lines in both the main parties, an act of collective nihilism. Maybe this was coming anyway, but now I truly fear for the future. We are split by age, by region, by everything else. The ideal breeding ground for the toxic and divisive politics of left and right.

It seems that Leadsom has now pulled out of the race. Can it get any more farcical?

I am now looking forward to a new page of life, the people voted leave and we have left.
It's only the paperwork that remains.
As for Theresa May,I must congratulate her on a victory that saw all her opposition fall like characters in Shakespearean play.
Those that can often do step forward when needed, good luck Theresa and best wishes from all of us.

Yes...apparently it can! ...after Dave comes out to tell us all that he'll be vacating no.10 on Wednesday. He turns and hums a song! #MontyPython

"Only the paperwork" ? That's the sort of naivity that landed us in this mess.

This morning we woke (literally) to news that Boris Johnson (BoJo they rather horridly called him at one stage) has been appointed Foreign Secretary to everyone's surprise. I think the commentators were saying it was a smart move on Theresa May's part as it will keep him out of the country a lot. One of the first questions, apparently, was "Which political leader will you apologize to first, Boris?"

Yes, that's what I thought: keep him onside and get him out of the way - and give him plenty of rope to hang himself.

I got a letter from Fidelity the other day, listing all their property funds that have been suspended i. e. no dealing permitted, including drawing down on pensions. I must say I admire Mark Carney's restraint, when having to face questioning from people like idiot toff Jacob Rees Mogg, who still doesn't seem to realise that the 'doom mongering' from the Bank of England was no more that the sober and accurate reporting of what would happen if the UK voted to leave the EU. The idiot brexiteers are now trying to blame those charged with stopping the economy from tanking for being right about the impact of brexit on the economy.
