I'm off to the cinema on Thurs evening for live relay of new ROH production of "Madama Butterfly". Mobs probably has tickets for the real Covent Garden experience! Reviews are in; all five stars. Been listening to some recordings to put me in the mood - beginning, of course, with Malcolm McLaren hip-hop version... But, in truth, a '55 recording blew my socks off. Herbert von Karajan conducting Maria Callas. I saw a wonderful touring production of "Turandot" last Autumn; I guess I'm just destined to catch yer man's Oriental ones. |

I *did* enjoy, Rum - it was *last* Thursday! Smashing evening, a real three-hankie job! And the Pinkerton, Marcelo Puente, is a fellow Argie. Going back in June for another Covent Garden relay - Verdi's "Otello". |
