Kabul attack

There has been a dreadful attack on Kabul, which killed about 90 people and injured 400, many of them children. I wondered why this didn't make many waves, but my husband said it's because no-one has much idea of Kabul. I had just read The Underground Girls of Kabul, so I was wondering if any of the women mentioned in that were affected. Stupid, I know, as there are so many people in Kabul, but probably no more stupid than us wondering about the family we know in Manchester whose eldest son might be 13, but not older.

No one seems to have claimed responsibility for this attack, and the Taliban has actively said it wasn't anything to do with them. Maybe the difference between ISIS being quick to claim the Manchester and the lack of claims in Kabul is that one is a western city and one is mainly Muslim. The toll, they said, is expected to rise sharply.

Right now my radio is talking about the Kabul explosion. They are saying the area is meant to be one of the safest in Kabul. Close to the German and British embassies.
