I know I'm not the only fan around here, so just to alert/remind you...
The Late Prom at 10:15 on R3 tonight (Tues).

Should make wonderful tucked-up-in-bed listening.

Hi May-Cee ...yes I heard a riveting interview on Front Row last night between presenter John Wilson and Jules Buckley, who founded the Heritage Orchestra and in 2015 performed The Ibiza Prom in conjunction with Radio 1's Pete Tong...in the first of his two Proms in the Late Prom spot tonight, he'll be conducting the Heritage Orchestra with special guests Jarvis Cocker, John Grant and Richard Hawley they will be taking inspiration from and celebrating the songwriter Scott Walker particularly the Solo Albums 1-4.

John Wilson has interviewed a rather reclusive Scott in the past & played snippets of their 2006 interview, details of where to listen to the full interview are also given.

John W asked Jules if Scott was going to be there, Jules replied "We hope so!"

It was a lovely listen.
One of my favourite Proms so far - along with John Adams on the First Night and Berlioz's "Symphonie Fantastique" last week.

Looking forward to the Mingus one you mentioned and Schoenberg's "Gurrelieder"

Yes...Jules Buckley returns to the Royal Alber Hall with his Metropole Orkest to perform the Prom 53 Beneath the Underdog: Charlie Mingus Revisited at 7.30pm on 24th August...it will be broadcast on BBC4 the next evening.

Yep, Mobs, Scott was there on the night!
Last Sat's edition of "Proms Extra" on BBC 2 showed a photo of him in a dressing room after the show.

Last Sunday, enjoyed the TV recording of "Fidelio", performed a week or so earlier.

Earlier tonight (Friday) I truly digged the live TV relay of the jazz Prom; mainly a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald and Dizzy Gillespie, in their centenary year - but great tunes by Gershwin, Ellington and others.

Oh that's good to know that he was there...thought he might not want to miss the honour of being played 'at the Proms' ...

I was out this evening so missed the Ella/Dizzy gig...but no doubt it's on i-player so will try to catch it there...

Yippee! It's Cowboys and Farmgirls being let loose in the Royal Albert Hall tonight as the John Wilson Orchestra transports us to the Great American Plains in Oklahoma, Rodgers and Hammerstein's first ever musical which was an instant hit when it premiered on Broadway in 1943.

Opened a new topic called Oklahoma for links etc
