I love it when someone comes to visit and brings their music...in this case my son who lives on Turks & Caicos...he has bought some great mixes from Miami, New Orleans, Haiti and Venezuela....but what I am listening to right now is the music of Boozoo Bajou, who are noted for their distinct blend of Cajun sounds with island rhythms. In particular their early album released in 2001, Satta....it has an incredible groovy beat and the first track 'yma' has a slow percussion, flute and upright bass with an occasional vocal who sounds a bit 'Barry White'! The track I'm listening to right now is called 'lava'....the third track called 'night over manaus' makes you want to get up and dance or at least shake your booty!

"In 2005 they released Dust My Broom to much critical acclaim" says Wiki....who knew??

I'm sure it's all on i-tunes for download as the albums look pricey on Amazon. If you like a heavy beat, incredible rhythm and percussion, along with some weird & watery accoustic noises, this will appeal!
It reminds me a little of a slower Gotan Project style of music with a cajun twist... btw, these guys are German!

Ha Ha! Well I got the surname right at least....Tony Joe White, eh what a find (for me!)...I wonder if it is him singing on Satta??**....
I love Rainy Night in Georgia sung by Randy Crawford and Steamy Windows by Tina Turner...just listened to Polk Salad Annie too, which has been covered by many artists, including Tom Jones and Elvis.

I like this one....well there seem to be two about the Bayou....Blues and Woman....think I prefer the Blues! .... guitarist1

**looked on the album cover of Satta and there is no mention of his name; the only vocals listed are under track 9 Lava attributed to John Davis....

I'm playing the third track now after a day of decorators stripping back wallpaper in our building...we're spending £400,000 having our common parts refurbed - huh some common parts!
