According to M&S, tomorrow is National Underwear Day! A day to celebrate great underwear (again according to M&S!)

Who decrees these mostly commercial National days or in some cases weeks, i.e. Apple Day-11th October; British Pie Week 7th-13th March; British Cheese Week (24th Sept-2nd Oct) & the
International Cheese Awards, which were held at the Nantwich Show Ground on Wednesday 27th July & established since 1897 so the website says...and many, many more.

There is also National Playday on the first Wednesday in August supported by Savlon. oh dam, that was yesterday...wish I had known!

National Awareness Days for all sorts of activities; with all these 'awareness of a product or an event' days, one could become a slave to the calendar!

I can understand the need for a day or week of promotion of produce connected with the trade of food and drink but underwear!

What other national days I wonder are there that are a bit off the radar?

Wednesday was apparently National Play Day as I was dismayed to find out when I went for a quiet walk in the park and found hordes of kids - bless em- and loud engines running bouncy castles etc. Very noisy everywhere

I think you said once that you ate 2 pieces of 70% chocolate daily as advised by your GP for health purposes.
I have started doing the same -- in the hope it will counteract all the other chocolate etc. I eat!! <whistles>

Apparently there are something like 576 'Days' each year so some days are two 'Days'.

It might be that not all dates are Days so some days could even be three or more ..... Days.

I put this here because I did so a year ago!

It's Chocolate Week again! Read all about it here (as if you needed any encouragement!).... http://www.chocolateweek.co.uk/

I entered a great little chocolate shop called Digby's on Thursday whilst visiting Cromer....a combination of old fashioned school treats and much, much more - right-up-to-date packaged chocolate and healthy options (if that's possible) - loved the A-Z bars in trendy packaging, containing dried fruits or essences that started with the letter of the alphabet e.g. H - for Honeycomb; broken pieces combined with dark & white chocolate! I bought a few fresh cream chocolates - vanilla chocolate with orange essence cream filling & shards of crystallised orange on top, plus salted caramel truffles and 'natural fruits' (raspberry/pomegranite & blueberry) lollipops ....One thing I've noticed on their website that could be great fun - Message Mice - a traditional sugar mouse on which a short message can be written on its back and sent (anonymously???) to a recipient...I can think of few short and sweet messages I'd like to send to a few people! <wink>

I paid a fortune for some Godiva chocolates for Mrs R's birthday and, TBH, they were a bit average. Hotel Chocolate's stuff is more interesting IMO.

I passed by the Godiva shop in Regent Street on Friday - the 'chef' (in whites and chef's hat!) was dipping huge strawberries into a melting pot of hot chocolate and placing them on trays to display in the window - the Japanese love this!

<wink> and mine! We don't need a national marketing day/week to tell us what we already know 365 days or 52 weeks of the year! <cool>

....I'm sending the 'message mouse' (see post 12) to all my grand and god children this Christmas....and perhaps to some adults too! <happy>

Well I am surprised at this news! Although I try not to eat chocolate that contains veggie fat these days, or biscuits, which are pure evil!, I have in the past popped a packet of these delicious little beauties in my bag, usually whilst travelling, as it fulfills two treats in one.....Australia is a long way to go for a snack!
