11:00 today (Friday) there is a programme about musical pitch recognition. 11:00 ___ Am I Tone Deaf? Sathnam Sanghera asks if being tone-deaf is a medical matter or simply a lack of training. Link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b014641m Hope it is interesting. I’m fed up with enduring the caterwailing from tone-deaf muso wannabees who are all self-confidence without empathy for real music. Listen to Bach, Hendrix and Coltrane. Listen to hear sitar ragas. Learn to play piano (even a bit) – that’s true beauty in music . |

Unfortunately the programme was a bit of a damp squib. I was listening to the 'same or different' melody test (devised by University of Montreal) but the presenters kept interrupting. Went to the linked web-site (www.delosis.com/listening). It takes ages to go through all the sections. Got bored, so went back to playing on the 'cello - far more musical. |
